The road glide has always kinda been the bastard child of Harley. You won't see many at the dealers, and especially won't see many used ones. Once you go sharknose, you never go back. :p

Yeah I can always remember looking at them and thinking "WTF, is that thing". Now I see a ton of Ultra's, Street Glides, etc, but if they get a sharknose in - it's gone real fast. I think the whole Bagger Nation and everything is helping the bike.

At the big dealerships I go to, it's usually about 10:1 ratio of batwings to sharknose. I personally didn't care for the RG at all before the 2009 models, and when I saw the 2010 I knew I had to have one.

My dealer has a Red 2010 and a Black Pearl 2009 and that is it. They have at least 20 bat Wings in various configurations.

Many dealerships that I have stepped foot in either don't have any or very few RGs.

I think it is because people couldn't invision the Road Glide with sleek aftermarket parts (i.e. windshields, wheels, bars, etc.) They are not the most attractive bikes in stock form (prior to 2010). You can learn to respect the road glide (stock or modified) if you ever road one. Many people never get that opportunity and therefore just don't understand the appeal.

I thinks its also about the #'s. Most people like the batwing because that is what they see the most of. Plus if Honda had a batwing I'm sure alot of people would stop saying the RG looks like a honda. They make alot less RG's too so they aren't going to have as many on the floor as batwings...

Jackson Ms HD has 2 2010 red RGs and a 2005 67k miles for 10k, this is a consignment bike and has come down from 14k 3 months ago.
Yes now they do. When I was looking for mine,he only had the 09 and was selling it for the same price as the 2010. They told me at the time he would NOT get anything else in this year. Guess he changed his mind because people were asking for them.

i have found that model popularity is different in various parts of the country and changes. around here touring bikes are more popular than anything else, due to the climate and types of roads..in the west road glides are pretty big, they have become big here ....they dont set on dealer floors very long

Rode batwing and Roadglide before I traded for my 2nd Harley. On the batwiing I felt like I was on top of front end, too close. The Roadie sat me down and back with some room, just suited me better. No regreats, its a gem out on the open road>

..last week Pikes Peak Harley had 3 '09s & a couple '10s on the floor. They weren't overly aggressive on their pricing. MSRP w/the 1% financing or $1500 off for cash. That's what they're sayin' anyhow, maybe they'd get more interested when yer in the room w/the offer sheet.

I travel around the world alot and if I can find a Harley Dealer, I try to make time to stop in. I even found one in Casablanca, Morocco. None of the dealerships I when in had RG's on display.

San Diego HD has 1 orange pearl and 1 blue pearl 09 on the floor. They only have 1 vivid black 10. El Cajon HD has a black pearl 09 but no 10's. I would venture a guess that for every dozen or so baggers sold maybe 1 or 2 is a Road Glide.

For the longest time, I thought the FLTR was about the ugliest thing on two wheels.... but then again I rarely saw one in person.
When I first saw this one at my dealers web page, it was a used bike with just 10k on the clock. They were asking a couple grand less than similar vintage street glides, and Road Kings.
I clicked on the picture link, and took one look, and said "no wonder.... that's a gawd awful bike, in a gawd awful color" but it kinda grew on me. The fact that (at the time) you'd see 148 HD's between Road Glides appealed to me.

The RG is getting more popular it seems.... I've seen at least one, in every showroom, I've visited this year, and I even saw 4 used RG's at one dealership.

Still, I can spot MY bike out in a crowd, and I'd rather have a FLTR, than those common as heck, "batwings".... but that doesn't mean, I want everyone to have one.... LOL

I really agree. Especially out here in the SF Bay Area. They are everywhere.
I see them all over the place.... That's one reason I got Scarlet Red. I've literally seen 5-6 a day at some local hang outs. All are usually black.
