Yep so the dealer is throwing a wrench in my plans AGAIN. I called to find out about dyno tuning services in terms of cost and find out what tuners they are most comfortable working with. Come to find out, they can't dyno tune 2011s because they aren't trained. Does that sound right? Does anyone know a good tuner in Upstate, SC? They offered to sell me the Screamin' Eagle equivalent of a TTS and ride it for an hour...really? I can do that myself.

What? What is supposed to be so special about the 2011 RG's? Something sounds a little fishy to me. Did you try calling another dealer just to see what they said. I think a bunch of us would be interested in the results.

I'm not dynoing mine, first EFI bike I haven't. I decided to go with the SE Pro Tuner with Smart Tune and I know there is specific software for the 2011's.

Good luck.

I think your dealer is a good dealer if they are honest enough to tell you they are not trained to do a proper dyno. Better them tell you now then work on your bike then have you unhappy. Remember many harley shops are not performance oreinted so they do things stricktly by the harley book and if the book says they need training on 2011's before the work on them guess what they are going to wait until they get the training.

They changed something on the 2011's on Softail models only. Otherwise, there should be no difference on touring bikes. Also, there's no equivalent to the TTS. Steve (owner of TTS) used to make the SE Tuner for Harley Davidson. His version is far superior to theirs and because he doesn't have the same constraints on what he can do as Harley Davidson does.

The more expensive race tuner isn't made for HD by him? When did that change?

This HD dealer is the only one in the upstate w/ a Dyno. There is only one other place in the upstate that has a Dyno and I'm not sure I want to haul the bike up there, get a ride back and pick it up when they are done.

BTW: They charge $350 to dyno tune at the HD dealer...is that normal?

Answer...TTS Mastertune...again, the budget is blown.

Sure it is Jeff. Just like the 100% chance of 6 to 12 inches of snow for tomorrow. Dropping to 80% Thur and -21 for an overnight low. How's things in the banana belt? I was supposed to be in Missoua for a day this week, but it's been delayed. Car's in the shop after a 23 yr old chick rear ended me and of course she had no insurance.

The dealership here in Augusta has a dyno (you don't want anybody but Jon to do it), but I'm pretty sure that we are only setup for the SE RaceTuner. $350 sounds like it could be a little high, but not positive. It seems that we charge 4 hrs for pipe install and dyno tune which comes out to about $328.

The local dealer is only setup for the SE RaceTuner as well which wouldn't have been a problem but they said since my bike is 2011 all they could do is hook the SERT up and ride it around for an hour to get the tune map corrected. The $350 is for dyno time only...I don't need anyone else installing parts on my ride...not to seem rude about it but I don't like paying for what I can do myself. For the $350, they keep your bike all day although I'm not sure why unless they are trying to make you feel like your getting $350 worth of dyno time.

Perhaps you misunderstood, I'm pretty sure that we have dyno'd a 2011, but I will check for sure today and find out. If for some reason it can't be done (which I doubt), I will get an explanation as to why.

I'll be curious to see what you find out as it seems awfully strange that the local dealer can't dyno 2011s.

I talked to Jon (the tech) he said that he can dyno a 2011. I asked him why a dealer would tell you that. The only thing he could come up with is that maybe they don't have the latest software updaate for the SE Race Tuner. He said that we do have the software updaate, so he sees no problems. Now, I can't speak for labor but you could call and get a quote. The number is 706-651-0444. Hope this info helps.
