This was a decision that was hard to come by, but I'm changing my RG into a SG. After more than a year of fighting the wind (and I hate the look of a tall windshield) I am changing my fairing and putting on a batwing. I rode a buddies SG and a big difference in buffetting. The other reason I am writing you guys is I will probably sell my SERG fairing and stuff. If anyone is needing something feel free to pm me. This has been a great forum and love talking to you guys, so please don't hate me or send negative remarks, it's just what I want to do. Thanks.

Agreed

Do whatchu gotta do. Based on the posts on this site since I have been here, I don't think there is any reason for you to feel anyone would give you any grief. It also sounds like others may benefit from your choices. Someone may be able to get some nice parts. Kind of like a Donor program; of which I believe strongly in. I have even given som consideration to making my next license plate "DONOR"!
Good luck with your project and don't quit contributing to this site.

Road Glide parts

Fireguy, I've still not decided if I'm going to convert my Road King or just buy a Road Glide, but I'd be interested in talking to you about what you have to sell. PM me or call 2525314444. Thanks

too bad you weren't happy with what ya had. SERG parts! That should be easy to get rid of. It's just swapping out the fairing from a shark nose to a batwing!?....its uh....like getting a sex change or something!....lol....good luck and don't quit hanging here. we'd like to see the transformation and see what it took to accomplish.
Good luck

Wow.. thats the same reason I went from a batwing to the sharknose.. fighting the wind. With the batwing everytime I met a truck, I though I was going to get blown off the highway. The shark just cuts right through it. Its weird how people can have the exact opposite of opinions on things,. but thats just life I guess.

Instead of converting, why don't you just trade the RG for the SG?

I thought about trading but I have alot into my bike, cb,nav, communication,xm,lowers with speakers, catless exhaust, tts programmer, hawg speakers and the dealer wouldn't give you anything for that and I want this on my next bike. I figured the fairing swap will be alot easier and not lose a bunch of $.

I know how you feel about the wind. It does handle and cut through the wind better but, in order to get the buffeting and wind off your body you do have to do a bunch of wind deflectors and a huge ugly windshield.

I do agree with you, not enough to give up my shark, but enough where i do think about it from time to time. My street glide had the short Klockwerks on it and im 6'3" and it was real confortable. Now if i dont have my 12" windvest monster on there i feel like im in a fight with the wind anything over 65-70.

After you change the fairing, I'd still tell people its a Road Glide just to get their reactions.
Technically, it WILL still be a Road Glide.

2 more Cents

I had a batwing, I have a shark, I had lowers on the bat wing, I took them off and had more wind than my Glide could ever produce. needless to say the lowers were put back on. this made all the diff. currently I'm working on a project for wind buffeting without the need of lowers, if it doesn't work I'm going to lowers.

Well the project is done. It was a blast doing it and after finding a guy that payed top dollar for the fairing and stuff I ended up making money in the end. I am in love with riding all over again. The batwings works better for me and have no regrets. I can say that I have a one of a kind bike. They didn't make cvo street glides in 2009.
