Especially when you start putting big power through them, belt tension becomes critical to long life. Too lose is just as bad or worse than too tight. I'd bet you've been too loose, there's a lot of bikes out there with more power still running belts.
Just had my mechanic install the Zippers Performance direct fit chain and sprocket , couldn't be happier , he checked the alignment with a straight edge and the kit was dead on . Know more broken belts.

Hey there, I am finding that is getting more and more difficult to get the bike in neutral when stopped at a light or sign with the engine running. As soon as the engine is off, no problem, pops right in.
