Dyno pulls I’ve done

I’m going to try and continue to post to this thread as I tune bikes at work. The goal of this is to show what numbers I’m getting out of what combinations here in Texas. Not saying I’m the be all, end all of tuners, just want to share with everyone. Most of the time, here lately, because of the extreme heat, I’ve been going in around 6am to tune. These are all done with a Dynojet chassis dyno and power vision maps / tuners. None of these graphs I post will be Screamin Eagle street tuners, Thundermax or TTS, unless noted. I try to put text in each pic so you know the combination used. They won’t only be Road Glides and some I don’t remember all the parts I use. If I say “Harley 131 kit” and don’t list anything specific, then it’s just as the kit comes. I will make it a point to highlight what parts I do change.

I hope everyone enjoys this and feel free to ask questions. I’ll do my best to answer / remember the bikes. Lol.

2023 FLHXST 117, Andrews 485, 64mm TB and manifold, stock injectors, Jackpot 2-into-1 and Harley extreme air cleaner. The only difference in the 2 lines is that I changed from stock 117 short 90° air cleaner to the extreme air cleaner.

2022 FXLRS 117 with stock manifold, injectors, throttlebody and air cleaner, Andrews 485 and TBR shorty 2-into-1.
I made small changes down low and up high over 4 pulls and got the same numbers within .1 or each other. I think I hit the limit of what the stock 90° air cleaner will flow.

2018 RG from this morning
Hey Man.....any "tried and true" you see in this game...and I know nits a loaded question with too many variables - My '22 is off Fact Warnt in July of next year and I am planning on just a simple S1 to allow the Sofa to breath better and get a snappier throttle - Am okay with the HD Tuner with Wide Band Sensors, AC's are nothing I am dead set on and really looking at an S&S Full Exhaust....ran the KW full before and liked it, gave good numbers but ready for a new

Your Bike, Your $$, Your Stage 1....what are you buying?

Yes in the general sense of the question.
107s and 114s use different length stroke flywheels. That's why 107s can only be 128 and 114s can be 131. You can put 114 flywheels in 107 cases and then go to 131, I've done that numerous times.

@crazy4ink Forgive my ignorance but why the difference between these two bikes? Both are 117s right? the street glide, prior to adding the extreme air filter, is falling short of the numbers on the Low rider yet it has additional mods. I'm assuming the intent of those additional mods were to be beneficial for adding power.

Once you add in the extreme air cleaner and the bigger TB/Manifold, that's what about a grand minimum in parts?, the Street Glide just barely matches the tq and slightly edges out the HP. Both have same cam and both have 2 in to 1 pipes. And the LRS has a shorty pipe which in theory robs power compared to full length? Or do I have that part backwards?

Is this just general tolerances to be expected from one engine to the next? I mean I know not every 117 is putting out exact same numbers, just kinda stuck out to me that it took a decent chunk of change to catch up with the LRS.

The street glide started out with more mods than the Low Rider. The only thing I changed was the air cleaner. The street glide had the bigger throttle body and manifold prior to the larger air cleaner being installed. I did that mostly just to see what the air cleaner actually did to the numbers. Some of the difference was also in the exhausts. Not so much the brand but the packing / design of the baffle.

No 2 bikes, even built identical will ever make the same numbers. There will always be variances, whether from individual pieces / parts or even ambient air temps. You can cheat dyno runs too; loaded, unloaded, 5th gear, 6th gear, gas octane, exterior fans and where they’re pointed, tire pressure, etc. I make every effort to do all pulls in 5th with me seated in them.

2020 RGS 114 with diesel air filter, S&S 475 and Khromewerks 2-into-1. Customer said he “had it tuned by another shop to fix my shitty tune”. (He reference was to us as a shop, not me). I strapped it down and the red lines are where the bike was when he rode in from “the better tuner”. Blue lines are where it left at.

Based on what I can see from the graph the hp and Tq curves started dropping and the AFR was climbing in the lean territory. First area to correct then run again, new data to look at, continue to address.

First job today. Installed 14” bars and an S&S 475 cam. Stock everything else except for the Rinehart slip ons. Left the stock headpipe to make the backpressure the mufflers lose.
