Dyno pulls I’ve done

I’m going to try and continue to post to this thread as I tune bikes at work. The goal of this is to show what numbers I’m getting out of what combinations here in Texas. Not saying I’m the be all, end all of tuners, just want to share with everyone. Most of the time, here lately, because of the extreme heat, I’ve been going in around 6am to tune. These are all done with a Dynojet chassis dyno and power vision maps / tuners. None of these graphs I post will be Screamin Eagle street tuners, Thundermax or TTS, unless noted. I try to put text in each pic so you know the combination used. They won’t only be Road Glides and some I don’t remember all the parts I use. If I say “Harley 131 kit” and don’t list anything specific, then it’s just as the kit comes. I will make it a point to highlight what parts I do change.

I hope everyone enjoys this and feel free to ask questions. I’ll do my best to answer / remember the bikes. Lol.

THAT HAS TO BE INSANE @ the difference!!
So am I correct in saying that he (#177) has all of the screaming eagle stage 4 128" kit, other than the Khromewerks headpipes, mufflers and louvered baffles and the new extreme wedge air cleaner??

Looks like this Andrews 554 cam works for you in just about all of your big bores!!!! (y)(y)(y)(y)(y)💪

Question
Why did the Fast Johnny (#167 @ 149/160) kick ass compared to these other 2 HD stage 4 packages in last few day?? Is it because of the name and paint scheme?👀🤣👻

#181 ·
Yes #177 had all the parts from the Stage 4 kit except the cam was changed out for the Andrews 554 and the supplied headpipe was ditched in favor of the Khromewerks headpipes. The Khromewerks mufflers and louvered baffles were going to be used regardless. The extreme wedge air cleaner was also going to be used regardless since the customer had the stock one anyways.

#166 and #168 both had Trask air cleaners where the Fast Johnny #167 has what I call the Diesel Filter. Basically, the Trask filters look great but can’t flow the amount of air the Diesel filter can. Normally I can tune a bike and get it set, then doing nothing more than bolting the Diesel filter on, can typically gain 5hp and 5tq.

I didn’t build this one, another dealership did. I just got to tune it. Crate 135” with a D&D 2-into-1. Could make more with a better air cleaner but still not bad at all.

2011 CVO SG with 91,xxx miles on it. Came in for fresh cylinders and rings and customer decided to add 585 cams. Wouldn’t let us change the air cleaner, headpipe or existing slipons.

Customer brought me his 2023 Low Rider ST 117 that his buddy “who knows his shit” put a Star 30-30 cam in, shorty 2-into-1 and high flow air cleaner on. I guess the guy screwed around in the map and claimed he had it dialed in. No other motor work. I just fixed his tune.

What needs changing to get that much of a swing in the torque? Crazy how the old tune dropped at 3900 rpm - like, right when you want it.

Can you please explain the two air/fuel charts at the bottom? What's the difference? What should it look like? (I'm guessing flat based on your tune)

Customer brought his Eagle Eye Road Glide in today for a retune. Bike has a Harley 128” kit, TTS250 cam, extreme wedge air cleaner, Khromewerks headpipe with Neighbor Haters and a TTS map. I swapped the mufflers for Khromewerks with louvered baffles and retuned with Power Vision. Customer’s complaint of stumbling off idle and slow to respond throttle all gone.

Another retune from today. Bike already an S&S 475 and their catted 2-into-1. Changed it out for a Khromewerks outlaw 2-into-1 and retuned it. Picked up almost 17hp and 15tq.

@Zedbra I get it man. I’m the second oldest guy in the shop and I consistently outwork everyone else. I started here in July of 2021 and in Sept the dealership started giving the monthly top performers championship belts to keep until they’ve been beaten. Every department has one; sales, techs, parts, motorclothes, online bike sales and service writer. I was the first tech to win the belt and haven’t lost it yet. Lmao

@crazy4ink Murph I’m noticing you do a lot of work with or changes to the bikes to get them utilizing KWs. Is this preference or is it you actually see preferential results used by them?

on a side note CVO cans. I came across a set of the early m8 ones that have straight through baffles and not the crimped off bullet baffles. The part numbers for the straight thrus are
64900256 L Muffler
64900257 R Muffler
I like them as they’re not obnoxious loud and I figured they’d at least maintain some back pressure. Any thoughts on them??

It’s a little bit of both. I have found that I can get more out of KW mufflers with their louvered baffles as opposed to other brands. That Eagle Eye RG I recently did; I took his Neighbor Haters off and replaced them with KW mufflers and louvered baffles and picked up a decent amount of both HP and TQ. But I also do get pushed to their products a lot since we are a stocking dealer of theirs, although I can’t argue the positive results I see. I like their 2-into-1 systems more than Bassani (they break way less) and I really prefer them over the shorty 2-into-1s that are flooding the market currently.

I have tuned a few bikes with the CVO mufflers and I don’t think they sound bad. If I remember correctly, those bikes still made good power, but probably left a few numbers on the table. Do I think they’re bad? No. Do I think they’re quiet where most people want volume? Yes. But it’s all in personal preference. I had a customer recently tell me that the outlaw 2-into-1 I put on his M8 is too quiet. Lol. And I’ve had people tell me to pull the louvered baffles out and put quiet baffles in.

Retuned the boss’s bike today. Swapped the Trask AC for the extreme wedge, swapped the Maxcell 837 cam for an Andrews 554 and added the +4° crank gear. He said it spins the tire at 60mph in 2nd gear

Picked up 9hp and 11tq from where it was.

Fixed a customer’s tune today. Bike is a 2019 RGU twin cooled 114, 55mm TB and manifold, 4.3 injectors, high flow AC, S&S 475, stock headpipe and KW slip ons. I literally did nothing but make map adjustments and tune.

Holy dip, bet that customer will need fresh shorts when he gets done riding today. Nice work!

I'm sure mine could use some sweeting up on a dyno from the FM map. There is a new tuner in my area but I have no idea if he's any good. I'm not going to dish out dinero to an unknown when the bike runs strong.

Lol. Well, just for planning purposes, I’m off on Mondays but if you’re going to drive that far, give me a heads up and I can arrange with work to be there on a Monday and not have other dyno appointments booked. Plus, there are 2 hotels right across the highway from the shop.

#224 ·
I have already looked up the ride down to you as well. Only 6 hours for me...less how I drive/ride.

Seriously considering it as my shops Dyno is dwon. All they can do is pulls, no tunes. I go in on Monday for my Extreme wedge. I want my leg room back and can't stand the look. (Personal preference)

Honestly no, I don’t. Mostly it’s because the customers I’ve had since being here don’t want to spend money on a Thundermax so as a result, I don’t have a lot of on dyno experience with one. I’ve pulled half a dozen out of bikes since being here, went back to stock ECMs and then tuned with Power Vision and made better numbers. I’m not going to say Thundermax is no good, I do t know one way or the other. Nor will I say that Power Vision is the be all end all; I just don’t have enough on dyno experience with Thundermax to be comfortable with it. And I will not look someone in the eyes and give them some kind of BS excuse. Plus, the dyno is setup to cater to Power Vision tunes more than anything else.

#229 ·
Bike came with TM and the original owner did not keep the ECM so I have learned what was present. I have a PV on my other RG and was thinking maybe go PV for both. Not sure of the cost since I have two items to buy.

#230 ·
if you already have a PV unit, I can sell you just a license, put your .stk and .txt on a thumb drive (or email them to you) and you one PV unit will then work on both bikes. Just a license is $250 and I can buy it right there in the dyno before I start tuning. I just replaced my boss’s ECM because it was locked with his old TTS tuner and I think the ECM was $300ish. I think.

#231 ·
Interesting alternative to get up and running. The PV I have is for a 2013 and my TM is on a 2019 so not sure if your path can accomplish this.

#232 ·
@Blowby Your 2019 uses a 6 pin grey plug. If your 2013 uses a 6 pin grey plug also, or even if it’s the 4 pin grey, then your 1 PV unit can do both bikes without issues. The only time it becomes impossible is if you have 2 bikes and 1 uses the 6 pin plug and the other is a ‘22 and newer that uses the red plug. They are different firmware versions inside the PV itself and have to be separated. In the dyno, I have 2 PV units; one is 6 pin and one is red pin.

Thank for your input. Valuable information, now I might have to make a trip down your way this spring/summer.
Nice man. Just give me a heads up and I’ll get you on the schedule and get an ECM ordered from the mothership so it’s here when you are.

So the other day, I was talking with my boss about this thread and how many forum members have expressed an interest in coming to get a dyno tune done by me. Being a Road Glide owner himself, he is offering a discount to forum members on dyno tuning. He wants interested forum members to call the dealership at 512-652-1200 and ask for him, Landon, to schedule your appointment. They can also email him at LBurcham@centraltexasharley.com. He works Tuesday-Friday 8am-7pm and Saturday 8am-6pm (same days as me).

Now I feel GREAT! 😄
I mean, what the heck isn't all about riding anyway right. 👍👍👍

Rife Safe ✌
Taking a week off work. Leaving here Saturday morning. Stopping at Graceland on the way.
