When people ask about things they can do to make their scooters run better/make more power, I always try to mention jug cooling fans. But I don't see a lot of them make it onto scooters. I see a lot of oil cooler fans, but not jug coolers.

So here's a little example of what cooling fans can do for your engine. I was working on an issue with my fuel system and needed to get some heat in the motor, so I had the fans off. When I was done, I decided to see how fast the temps would come down, just for my info.

Here it is with the motor at 302f after I got done verifying what I was fixing. Its 2:52 on the screen clock. The temp is shown in the second box from the left on the bottom of the active window. Then I switched the fans on.



Then another shot at 2:57 with the motor still at idle. It's pulled down 70 degrees in 5 min, with the motor running. And it was about 60f in the shop. I knew they worked pretty good, it idles at about 180-185f in traffic. And I knew they ran for five minutes or so after shutting the motor off in the summer time. But I had never looked to see how fast they actually cooled the motor down.



These little fans don't look like much, but they will really bring down the temperatures. Way more effective than oil cooler fans. They make a world of difference on a hot day.



So youens what are looking for ideas about winter upgrades, now you can think about adding a set of fans.

I had the Wards version on my 2012 Skunk with a 120" engine and routinely rode in Orlando traffic without over heating. I was a big fan of Jason Ward and sensed that the bigger company had bullied him out of business and have not even considered supporting the bigger business because of it. They do work and I may try and put my old fans on my new bike. Thanks for posting this info.

Those are Wards on my scooter. About 6 years old now. I was sorry to see him get pushed out the way he did.

I have Jason Wards Fan Werks as well. And screw the "copy cat" company!

They make a huge difference on my built 117" motor.

I hear what your saying but I contacted Jason several times and at the time I didn't know was the end of Wards. I really don't have any issues with heat but after my brother and I a while back got trappped in Pigeon Forge traffic (Hell) with zero outlets, hot as heck and cops everywhere looking for anyone whitelining I was set on getting Wards fans. But since he's not around and to my knowledge only mighty mites are available what do you suggest other then stealing my friend Y2kflhr's fans? :)

I totally get what you are saying, as it really suxs.

Once the "Copy Cat" company ran W.F.W. Away and threaten him on a twin fan set up and then copies his EXACT model except his name.

There is the JIMS Forced air, Nacelle fans (but butt ugly), and the MoCo fan that's now avaiable for twin cam and M8s. Other then those three there's not much else that I know of.

Btw, my bro has the JIMS fan. It replaces the stock horn location. Seems to work pretty good, but he lost one of the screens to his.

Every now and then there is a used Wards Fan Werks that shows up on different Harley forums for sale. They are getting more scarce the ever.

It might be easier to lift your bros fan and paint it a different color! Lol. >:)

I had Jason Wards fans on my old bike for years and the did a fantastic job at keeping the oil temperature down. I had a oil temperature gauge so I know for certain they did there job, contrary to what the nay sayers believe. I would buy a set in a heartbeat again, but I can’t support those copy cat, idea stealing pricks! Jason was such a great guy to deal with, I really wish he was still around.

So are these fans on your new bike?
That looks like a TC in that pic so I would say no.
I believe you are correct on that. I saw the blue and just thought new bike.

Those are on the 110 in my 2011. I only wish I could interface with the fuel system on the 18 :wink:

I'll put fans on the 18 before warm weather gets here. The hold up at the moment is the how to do it correctly. I would like to install them with an accessory switch. But I would also like to have heated grips. Based on the need to add an accessory harness for either the grips or the switches, it looks like I have to choose one of the two. I sent an email off to the MoCo for clarification. Dealer didn't know, thought perhaps I had to have a CVO to have both.
