Hey all -

I am thinking about getting the HD digital oil level / temp dipstick.

I wanted to see what the groups experience with them has been.

Also, is there a better option other than the HD version.

Was looking to purchase the Black model (p/n 63030-09)

All help is appreciated.

I had one on my old bike and it seemed to like new batteries. After about the 3rd set I just put the stock cap back on. If I were to do it again I would opt for one in place of the air temp gauge (if I had one). The dipstick version is not going to tell you much unless you stop the bike and look at it.

I almost bought this last year but the dealer parts guy said the only issue with them is they tend to get stolen. It surprised me but was enough to sway me to buy the in dash gauge. I got rid of the ambient temp gauge, switched the oil pressure over so have both oil gauges on the right side.
The digital will be more accurate likely.

I like the thought of replacing the ambient temp gauge.

Do you have the p/n for the gauge? I went on HD's website and it says that it comes in different variations and price not available at this time.

If I change the gauge, I want it to look like the stock gauges.

My dealer had one in stock, and yes it is exactly like the stock gauges on a 2010 so a perfect match for mine.
The part # on my invoice is 75324-05A. I had the dealer do the install as they have to go into the block if I recall so make sure you do it when you need an oil change.

I bought the digital dipstick 3 years ago and have not had any problems with it.
You have to get off the bike to look at it, but what the hell. I would prefer a gauge on the dash, but at the time, I did not want to dick around inside the faring. I guess it"s a toss up for me. Sorry to be of little help.

Thanks for all the input.

I am leaning towards the digital dipstick, as I will also get the oil level too.

I have one in my bike for 4 years now probably time for a new battery but it still works fine. They are not the most accurate gauge but it will give you a idea what your oil temp is and it easy to check the oil level.
