Can anyone tell me how much you can extend stock saddlebags before they start to drag in the corners? I want a better look, but function is my top priority...looking pretty and not being able to get low into corners won't do me any good.

Hoping to go more than 4". Thinking 6 or 8 but only if it doesn't change the way I ride.
Thanks.

You will be lucky to keep 4" extensions off the ground if you like to ride it...I have 4" and I made my own skid plates...and I'm glad I did cause the 1st rattle out of the box they hit the pavement. They hit before the floorboards do!

Well that's disappointing! Ha!
Good to know though.
Is this the same experience that everyone else is having?

Stock 04, btw. not lowered, etc.

4" and your good, have run them on many many many bikes.......very rarely do I hit my skid plates, but, I drag floor board brackets (and mufflers) regularly

If you wanted to go more than 4" you can get something like the DirtyBird Top Shelf Setup with the corners clipped. Same deal with TopShop

Just my $.02 but then again I have a big wheel so.......it's not bad getting in and put of the trailer :p. :D

Yeah drug the 4"s on my SG on both sides, even with the homemade air ride jacked up. The floorboards drag first on my RG with CVO bags, but I'm sure the bags ain't far behind. Somebody makes a 4" bag with the outer edge beveled which would help some.

Hmm, no one has mentioned rear shock height. Had 4" extended bags on the last Road Glide. It came with them. I had Mornoe DIY air ride on it and rode at full height without scraping issues. Any lower and I think i would scrape.

I will not be putting extended bags on my 13 as I am sure I will scrape with how I ride. Not worth the money only to see them scrape the ground. Gosh, I am turning into a practical old man.

I have the TopShop Viper style bags (4in) with the 45 bevel. My floor boards will drag long before my bags will.

4"?

hello

I see a few responses of people that have 4" top shop bags.
Think I would get away with 4 1/2 inch bags with an Ultra because of the highr ride height?

Thank you:D

Where can you buy skid plates? I saw one set but you have to drill and bolt them on, not fond of that idea. I have the stock CVO stretched bags,on the 2012 I just bought, and on the way home after I bought it my son told me I came real close to dragging.
One bag has a stick on plate and the other is missing, not sure if they are OEM, Im waiting for my CVO parts book to get here to see if theyre available.
