What’s up everyone. Hopefully someone can shed some light. I need to get the insane amount of wind out of my face when I’m riding with my 18 glide with the stock windshield still on it. I find that having the top vent open allows for more laminar air flow, and I’m for the feeling of wind flow when riding of course, but it’s more obnoxious with the stock shield.

I’m 5’9” - 5’10” if that helps to compare to you all who have had this same issue.

Thanks hopefully the thread catches wind no pun Intended

I hadn’t heard of Memphis shades before it seems like the 6.5 has a lot of positive reviews from guys our height. I’ll check them out, thanks!

That seat must be getting you just low enough for it to get the wind over your head. Or your just someone who likes more wind in the face. My radio has to be on the 3rd highest volume for me to hear it doing 50. And I can barely hear the pipes. Thanks for the reply!

Just installed a 12” freedom shield sport. I’m 5-9 with a Harley hammock seat. It’s a game changer..!

I tried out a 14” klockwerks at my dealer. For my the RG has a very streamline and sleek design to it. Going to big with a windshield might break that up. It’s a huge catch 22. I should just find something that does what I want it to do no matter what it looks like

my '18 FLTRX has the same issue. i put a 16" light tint Freedom Shield touring windshield on it but even that didn't stop the wind in the face.
the wind comes up under the tank and goes right up into my face. i always run all 3 vents open because that's not the problem and they add stability on the highway.

i've tried all types of fairings and wind deflectors and nothing really helps above 70 mph other than fairing lowers combined with the kuryakyn wind deflectors.
the next time you're out on the highway tuck your knees tightly into the gas tank and then open them up. you'll see where it's coming from.

i've gotten into the habit of wearing ear plugs and a helmet.
doesn't help with grass and tree allergies though.

just something to think about before you buy a tall windscreen. i like them tall so i can duck down for cover in rain or birds or road crap.
if you don't want a tall one for that protection, just get a shorter klockswerks "for style" and be done with it.

Never really thought about this. I guess it’ll just take some playing around with to find something that’s comfortable. I wear a full face helmet, always ride with the helmet visor up and sunglasses on. I took that visor off and I felt it improved the laminar flow because it wasn’t getting under the visor.

Guys at the dealer tell me they can go 70 with a baseball hat on forwards, not sure if that’s an over exaggeration or I just don’t have the proper setup.

Thanks for the reply!

Ya. The stock shield sucks for sure. I have a 14" Klockwerks Sport flare. I'm 5' 10" and I wear a Shark modular helmet 100% of the time. No wind. No buffeting nothing. Also always leave all 3 vents open. I'm also on the low profile solo.

I'd say it's an over exaggeration!

I have a Freedom shield also, best quality and function.

I can do the 70+ with the ball cap forward, hear music, etc thing . . . But don’t want to start the whole madstad thing. But I do like that shield & think it has a great “edgy” look on the RG

Dont be shy, go ahead and start the 'madstad thing' hah
Thanks for the replies also.

Has anyone had any luck with redirecting the air thats coming up under the fairing in between the tank?

5'10" , short legs at 30" , slouch a lot against driver backrest. 13" Freedom Shield. Wear a golf visor forward all the time in no helmet states. Vents open or closed, doesn't matter. I
