We’re seeing at least 3 a month. We cut the lower zip tie (and I cut the higher Christmas tree one) when we’re doing initial setups after delivery. One of the other techs had one with 3 broken wires yesterday.
Do you guys have a feedback report to HD headquarters to make them aware of delivery issues? So they get enough dealers letting them know, they can make a running change to fix a problem.

I don’t know about a feedback report but I call tech services every time and tell them and then fill a warranty claim so they see it

I had this happen to my brand new RG on a crowded interstate highway, and I nearly got run over when it dropped a cylinder. The bike ultimately left me stranded 600 miles from home. The local dealer in OH said it was the harness and I had to truck the bike home. Woodstock HDs fix was to hack out some wires and solder in new ones. How about replacing the sub harness like they should? And, they never reimbursed me for the rental truck as they said they would. Great customer service! No wonder they are in trouble. It’s not like this was an unknown issue.

He does a great job explaining this issue. I went into limp mode only once, cut that zip tie, checked all my connections. No issue since, other than my battery not holding 12+ volts like it used to.
It happened to me a few times. My dealership did the fix about 1.5-2 months ago. It's good that HD has an official bulletin about it but it would be better as a recall to inspect and then fix as needed. My local dealership hadn't heard of the issue before I had it with my bike, so it took a bit of time. They've had a bunch more come through with the same problem since then, though.

I had this issue pop up last week and got a CEL with historic code P2301. I had already cut the zip tie and straightened the wiring a couple months ago. This time, again, I pulled the connector, pulled back the sheathing, did a close visual inspection but everything looked good. Plugged it back in and it has been fine. The CEL self-cleared after a few cycles. Could have been a one in a thousand event. But I know that if it happens once, it can happen again, and I've fallen victim to Murphy's law way too many times.

The dealer has the bike now; I gave then the screen shot of the code, and they have the repair kits ready to go. Hopefully they'll be able to find the flaw and do the repair. If not then I guess I'll just ride until it happens again, but I at least wanted to give them a chance to fix it under warranty.

I had P2303 or P2301 the first time it happened. At that time the problem had already been posted here so I told the service advisor about this thread and showed them the broken wires that were being reported. They ended up replacing the coil and leaving the wires alone. It was ok for some time and then started happening again. They eventually ended up repairing the wires, but with parts that they had to order from Harley since the "kit" didn't exist, yet.

Does anyone here happen to know what type of connectors it is that are in those plugs?? This just happened to my buddies 25 rg and we are 1200kms away from a dealer so trying to find new pins to crimp on and re use the plug. Not sure if this style is used in any automotive plugs

This is the kit that folks have been suggesting to use.

I just had a 3-5 second limp mode hit me again yesterday at a red light. CEL with no codes present. The bike pulled out of it, has been running fine, but what if you're doing 80+ on an interstate? I asked my local service manager if he's heard about this, he just shrugged his shoulders, told me to bring it in if it becomes more consistent. This is going to get someone hurt. HD needs to figure this out now.

Has the dealership already looked at your wiring harness to the coil? Someone posted the TSB number earlier, TSB M1700.
