After changing out my handlebars I could not get my fork lock to engage. I pulled the ignition and checked the tumblers and everything looked in order. I didn't know why the lock wouldn't engage. After searching and searching I found a post that mentioned a rubber donut "bump stop" on the fork tubes causing problems. Sure enough the donut on the left fork had slid down the tube and was not allowing the forks to go full lock when turned to the left. After sliding the donut up all the way the fork lock is now engaging as it should.
Hope this will help those who think that their ignition switch is not aligned properly when it's just a rubber bump stop that is out of place.
