Afternoon guys and gals! I've got a 2004 and I'm stocking up parts to swap out. I've got a little money to spend on this thing and I want to do the front and rear suspension. I'm going for performance, not going to say I'm some kinda street bike rider but definitely pushing this thing in the corners hard. I have some bouncing going on pretty good right now and diving pretty hard in the front. I'm also kinda short lol so that comes into play. I'm 5'6 maybe 5'7 170. I ride 2 up about 25% of the time and the lady is 135. I'm not trying to spend 1500 on the backs but I'll spend what I need to. List of upgrades coming

Front Suspension- Looking at springs and emulators I think but could be swayed to cartridges
Rears- Open to suggestion.
New Exhaust- Thinking bassani exhaust/ shorter one
Tuner- Already have Power Commander 5
New risers/bars - Already have. Dynamite Crew 10" pullbacks

So basically I'm asking for some help on the suspension part in this thing. Do I go with 12s or 13s? I need to be able to kinda touch for when I'm riding 2 up at least. Do I need the HD version or standard? Remote Resi? Standard. I'd like to be able to switch easy from 2 up to 1 up without too much hassle.

I have supershox on my 04. Love them. Easy to adjust up and down. Have to pull hard bags out a little to do it. I have progressive in the front. Rides very well 2 up and solo. We are a bit heavier but the standard 13” shock in the rear would do well for you. I have a 28” inseam. Give them a call and they will wind a spring for your weight. The progressives took care of the dive in the front end.

I am thoroughly impressed with the smooth ride of my Pro Action rear shocks. I push my bike hard, have ridden 15k already this season and they seem to just get better. Now, I added HD Progressive springs to the front at the same time and those I wish I hadn't bothered, they seem to pogo more than I would like on hard, uneven corners.

I put Progressive Monotubes on my 09 RG. No more front end dive. Major improvement.
I put Race Tech springs and emulators in my 87 FXR, and 99 Yamaha Royal Star Venture. Major improvements there also.
Not overly expensive as I recall.

Thanks guys! Gives me some good info! I'm over here trying to figure out if I want to just go all in and get the Ohlins remote resi ones. That really would take a chunk out of my budget but are they worth it. From what I hear yes.. but $1400 eats away my budget pretty quick hhha

I just went with Legends all around. Just got back from an 1800 mile trip to Glacier and I was very impressed. Stuck to the road like glue. No more 4" front brake dive. I can't compare to others, but will cost about 1600 total for front and rear. Looks like they've changed the preload instructions on the front now. Up to 350 pounds rider and gear (not including passenger) stay at stock preload (0 turns). They quite smooth and have great road feel. Still not as good as the Hayabuse suspension was, but soooo much better than stock.

Thanks guys for all the input. I think I lined up a deal on some Fox shocks. I'm toying with going with the 12's for the back but I'd love to have the 13's if I knew I could touch. Downfall to the short inseam I guess.
