Kenny, I was wandering through the S&S booth and they were showing off their new 143" mega motor. An almost 4 1/2" bore that they say puts out 169 HP and 151 ft. lbs. of torque. This us what they say:

"All joking about size aside, it does matter. The S&S T143 Long Block engine for 2008-later Harley-Davidson® touring models is the largest S&S engine that will fit in a stock Harley-Davidson® chassis. It’s big, 143 cubic inches. ‘Nuff said.

Since the introduction of the S&S T124 eleven years ago, it has continued to set the industry standard for aftermarket engines. The T124 has become the go-to choice for upgrading your late model Harley-Davidson® motorcycle and it remains a great choice today. However, there's a new sheriff in town. The T124's big brother just came to the party.

At double the HP of a stock motor the power of the T143 requires technical expertise for the installation and tuning along with an experienced rider."

I told them to save you one! Just think how much longer the black snakes would be!

>:) Kevin I'm saving my pennies now. No I'm more then happy with the 124 if I was the guy with a bottomless wallet and only went to the local watering hole on Friday nights then sure. But I ride my bike far and hard so the 143 just wouldn't work for me.

When I talked to one of their guys at Biketoberfest I ask him if it could be a daily rider and he said no problem. He said he rode their demo bike with the 143" almost everyday for over a month and it did just fine. If it's built right for everyday riding I don't see why you couldn't do it. However, more cubes does mean more heat so that might become a comfort issue.

I suspect that for most of us the biggest issue is how big a hole it would leave in our bank account. Anybody know what the price tag is? It would probably eat up and spit out stock tranny gears and more.

Its around $9300 IIRC Kevin , the 124 is a bit over $6000 , thats a bit of jingle for 19 cubes , and time you put a clutch , exhaust and tuner in there , well ya know ..

If I knew the 143 would keep pace with the 124 LC for longevity , I'd do it , otherwise , I may just stick with the 124 as a replacement for this one .. I ever cross one of the guys I'm gonna ask them if the 143 will do 80-100K or if they'd build a one off LC version for me ..

Jack, the older I get, the more I realize that my reflexes aren't what they used to be and riding anything more than my 103 would likely get me into serious trouble. Let's face it, if you have all that HP and Torque available, you're going to use it.

So there guy rides to work everyday on the Demo how many miles? For argument sake witch this is NOT lets say 50 miles a day 5 days a week for that month that's only 1k that proves nothing to me. Let me DEMO there motor for a month with there gas card and put a few back to back 1k days in and survive a 6k+ trip in a week then I maybe ready to pony up that kinda $$. I love my 124 and its proven. Maybe next time I'm ready for a motor the 143 will have proven itself to be a 80-100k motor.

Don't disagree with you... just merely stating what was said. I'm sure he didn't limit his riding to just back and forth to work but I seriously doubt that he put the kind of miles you're talking about either. Like you said, maybe it will be proven the next time you need a motor. If not, then you already know what does work.
