I'm heading down to Glynco Georgia for the end of March through April. I'm driving the bike down from Connecticut. If any members are in that area and want to meet for weekend rides please give me a PM. It'd be nice to meet some people. I want to ride to Savannah and Jacksonville on my weekends when I am off. Also, if you can't meet but know some nice riding areas please let me know. Thanks.

Get you some Off with Skin so Soft or something similar. The freakin sand gnats there will eat you up. The get under your helmet and irritate you.

When you want a Friday evening jaunt, head down to Captain Stan's in Woodbine. You can run down on Hwy 17 or take I-95 to exit 14. Turn right, go till you dead end into 17, turn right and Captain Stan's will be about a quarter mile on the left. Lots of bikes roll in there for cold beer, BBQ, and music.

You will be between Savannah and Jax while in Brunswick. I prefer Savannah for the food and scenery. Market Square downtown is usually a big biker destination on the weekends. Big Gary would know more about that. I was stoned there in the Coast Guard and it has been a few years so things may have changed.

Maybe I would come that way and hook up with you. I have a couple of good friends at FLETC that I just made a 800 mile round trip with down to Florida. Lots of FLETCHER'S guys ride. I know two with RGs.

I grew up in the area long ago when Glynco was a Naval Air Station (the Old Man was a flight engineer on the early Hurricane Hunters based there, back when U.S. Navy flew them--Coast Guard now flies the missions.)

Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island are scenic rides in local area. The area is FLAT! Biggest hill around is tee on 18th hole at golf course.

Ride down to there is nice. If you can take your time take as many of the off highway roads like RT 301. When running down quick 95 is the way but relaxing ride is much better. Done it a few times from here to by Glynco and Charelston. Once there head out to the coast and just enjoy.

Doofus, What is the down side? You forgot those Salt Marsh Skeeters that swarm you and drive you nuts. They eat what's left after the sand gnats finish.

BTW, If any of you are running at night down there, the deer, especially on Jeckyll are everywhere. The Armadillos will scare the bazeezus out of you if you hit one of them. Makes the front end wiggle if you don't hit them square. Wild boars, too.

But on the brights side, Fernandina and Amelia Islands are nice. If you want to take a break from riding, catch the ferry out of St. Marys to Cumberland Island. That's where all the girls go that don't own razors. Come to think of it, don't go there.
