So, I was supposed to do a great ride this past Tuesday, but got some stomach bug Monday night. Not happy. So, myself and a couple buddies decided to do our ride Thursday. It looked like it may rain, but we went anyway and it turned into a glorious day! Started off with a great breakfast at a little diner at around 9am, then took off down Il route 2 south along the Rock river to Oregon, Il. Stopped at a roadhouse for our 1st beer at 11am. Cool place, been around since the late 1800's. After that we headed west towards the Mississippi river. Some of those roads were great. One of them turned into a gravel road for a bit. Got a bit sketchy on a small turn on a hill where my bagger turned into a hill-climber for a moment, but it turned out all right. Once we got along the river, we headed North into Savanna Illinois and stopped at Poopy's. Well, they recently had a fire, so the store was closed. But we hung out outside. The service sucked and the beers were luke-warm, so we bounced. Headed into town to the Iron Horse Social Club. Much better! Nobody was there so we had the run of the place. Beers were cold too. Hit another couple bars downtown, one where Frank Fritz from American Pickers has his shop. Pretty cool. We headed out of town and hit some really great, hilly roads. The scenery was great. Lots of farms, and rolling hills. We cruised for awhile until we got to Hanover Illinois. Stopped at a little bar called Bootleggers. Great local people, and bartender there. Headed out again on some more great roads to Galena Illinois. Parked the bikes on the main drag, but were dismayed that most of the cool little shops were closed at 6pm! So we went into Galena Brewing company. Had a good beer there, and honestly, some of the best wings I've ever had! After that we headed back home. Got back around 930pm. I'm now at about 1,340 miles on the 'new' bike. Better make an appointment for my 1,000 mile service!!:surprise:

Ya buddy! That's my next trek! Do the brew tour, plus there's the Monroe cheese factory nearby as well.

Know that area well - We rode out to Oregon on Sunday......straight out N Ave alllll the way - Then danced our way back through, Morengo, Woodstock, etc etc. - Use to run Galena a ton (Stagecoach, Blackjack) but the cops (you damn cops) got bad out that way for a while so we stopped

Need to hit you up man as we found some fun roads up in Eagle Wisc - We run Rand Road all the way up until it ends, hit 67 and make a Right and roll on into Eagle - Cool bar named "Knuckleheads" and many more in that part of town

I am doing an overnighter June 11th & 12th that runs us out to Iowa, Up into Minn, rack out then hit Wisc and back to Il - All and all about 800-900 miles and makes me forget about the City

Naaaaah - Many conflicting opinions on the 1K here - I had mine done last week and used it as a time to TELL them what i wanted done...."Please check this, please check that" etc etc - They knocked out all the little pain in the ass crap I did not want to do.......plus, with all the bikes I have rolled out of that place over the years, they always give me discounts.......my only real question is if I got Full Synth or not?

We looped out to Oregon Illinois yesterday (again) and hit Hwy 2 Up along the River..........beautiful scenery and damn near effect pavement - I have my overnight coming up this weekend....Illinois, Iowa, Minn and then Wisc..........rightly dubbed "The Flat Four Tour"

Its actually a Bi-Annual - Early and then late summer - I think there is a FB group for it "The Flat Four Tour" - Dude who runs it is a long time riding buddy of mine who just moved up into Door County in Wisc - I ride with a bunch of old Crotch Rocket Buddies who have all settled down and into Baggers now - Some say the ride is jinxed as we have lost a few over the years on the run.........prob my closest riding buddy passed last year on it but he was riding like......well, like he did and his luck just ran out......but, I digress, it is a fun thing man and I have not done it in YEARS due to my back but with the RG and a Riders Back Rest, I have no excuse now
