I woke up early this morning and decided to check out what people had to say about Harley Dealerships in my area on YELP. I looked at the following dealerships.

Bartel's Harley Davidson
Harley Davidson Of Glendale
Los Angeles Harley Davidson
Laidlaw's Harley Davidson
Old Road Harley Davidson
Fullerton Harley Davidson

I have extensive experience with all of these dealerships. I initially noticed that most of these dealers had at least 4 out of 5 stars. As I started reading the reviews I saw a lot of 1-2 star reviews which don't seem to be reflected in the rating. Also, they have filtered (hidden) reviews at the bottom of the page. Most of the filtered reviews are negative and you need to enter a two word validation code to access the hidden reviews. YELP does not make it obvious or easy to locate.

Given my experience with all of the dealerships I have to agree with every negative review I read. Sometimes people use these forums to badmouth a business but I can honestly say that I've either witnessed or experienced every negative scenario that I read about at the respective dealerships.

Just curious if you've YELPed your dealer and if you've found the filtered reviews. It seems that all of the dealers in my area should be ashamed of themselves. I've always said that I love Harley Davidson Motorcycles but I've always disliked EVERYTHING else about MoCo/Dealers..... and that's why I don't buy my parts from dealers.

I had no luck finding any of the dealers with in 80 miles of me on YELP.

I can say the one in Chattanooga, if it was the only Harley dealer, I would never by another new one. I refuse to spend a penny in there story and have not since the second time I walked in the store in 2002. It is the second closest dealer to me.

I pretty much do not use the closest one to me either, the owner is an azz. Their service sucks, there good mechanics moved to another dealer.

I really like Smoky Mountain HD. Owner is friendly, in the store lots, is truely concerned about their customer service, and service work. The staff is friendly and helpful. MSRP dealer. They will deal. The give military discounts. There are three dealers closer to me, yet SMHD is where my business goes.

I guess I really am a computer dummy but after reading your article I attempted to do it with a google search and saw a few but none in my area. I know that can't be right so it must be me.

I had never heard of Yelp before this thread, looked up the 2 dealers close to me, only 1 review each, 2 and 5 stars, I would probably put them at 2 and 3.5 so I guess it's ok.

Internet is far better "consumer protection" than all previous agencies and attempts combined (even though some websites still won't let you badmouth any commercial enterprise). Companies have always been able to advertise highly questionable or fraudulent claims, newspapers and TV reluctant or outright refusing to publicize problems, numerous victimized customers treated as "isolated incidents", BBB a cruel joke, and government agencies that require years of documentation before prosecuting-then reaching settlement that is no more than "OK, don't do that no more."
