they will do and say anything to void a warranty. and they probably wouldn't be wrong to assume that along with that TM there are some other mods that kida go with that TM like bread and butter.. exhaust, AC and ??cams..so, did the dealer install the TM, or the other mods? if they didn't, you'll probably will need a lawyer to get anywhere with them.

you could always put back all the stock stuff if a problem arises, conveniently, when your'e close to home so you could make those changes.. IMO.

if its a problem with the engine I would say possibly anything else they would have to prove that the changes you made caused the problems .

MOCO Politics

The moco will void the esp for any reason AT ALL!

You need to study the Magnusson Moss Warranty Act and be prepared to use it.

ESP can be a major pain!

Good luck

esp is not a warranty so the magnusson moss warranty act does not apply. you must read the fine print of your contract. they can void the esp for changing shocks or wheels, especially if they are not a stock harley size.

It isn't MoCo that administers the ESP. It's an outside company. They've been sending inspectors out more often to look at claims.

You took out the ECM, or Electronic Control Module, the part that effectively controls every part of the motorcycle, and replaced it with something else.

And then it surprises you that you extended warranty would be void??

Just so you know, if you purposely ride the motorcycle with no air in the tires, your tire warranty will be void too.

Noy trying to be an ass, but REALLY??

The MOCO will find a way to void your warranty, especily if the parts was/were not installed by a dealer and not ''Harley'' be ready for a fight, even farting on your seat while riding and the seat is not covered by your ESP anymore because of unproper mixture of oxygen :p

I hate to break it to you but I personally know of 3 moco dealers that POINT OUT ON PURPOSE every esp violation they can... I was there when a mechanic was pointing out problems on a guys bike for the report BEFORE esp was notified.

DON"T forget the moco mechanics can also BRAND/MARK/IDENTIFY your vin as being "modified" "not street legal" Race track only" etc for warranty and esp claims...

Yes esp is administered by an outside agency for the moco.......

Just like the KGB was an outside agency for the kremiln!

I have no doubt, in fact I would bet, that the dealers get kickbacks for any potential warranty claims they can reject because of mods to the bike.
Do you get a refund on the remaining ESP term if your warranty is voided?? I doubt it.

Like I always say.........
Casinos and warranties/extended warranties/service plans etc all work on the same principle, and to benefit only one side, which IS NOT the consumer.

Whne the sales people start in on there speech, my wife usually cuts them off "you're wasting your breath, he ain't buying it".
I've never yet come out on the losing end by not buying.

I had local HD shop install T-Max cams and a air cleaner. Never ran better, cooler. and no pinging. They said if they did the work they would honor warranty.
I bit, hook, line and sinker.
Nice while it lasted, bike ran great until flywheel and crank went out. 40,000 miles.
Mechanic said the parts failed because I didnt change the oil or let bike warm up? I cant hardly sleep at night if my oil has 3000 plus on it, chaged it all the time with Mobil synthetic.
What he should have said, is the parts failed because I didnt take it in to have them do all the services.
Guess what , no warranty! They said motor had to go back to MoCo to be rebuilt. I argued with them. Went on and on for 33 long days.
They won, I traded it in for a 13 Road Glide.

That's sucks... Maybe next time they imply there's a warranty on something, ask them to give it to you in writing. Talk is cheap and even though a verbal contract is binding in a court if law, at least in this state, it's not easy to prove there was ever an agreement. Even a text message stating an agreement is at least a written agreement than can be verified if not by looking at the phone itself, at least it can be verified through phone records. HD being one of the last American icons, I think they know that and abuse it by selling substandard equiwnt at a premium price and it's become all about satisfying their shareholders and betting the farm that enough bikes will set in the garage to get them past the warranty to pay for the ones that don't set in the garage and do get repaired under warranty.

If the HD dealer doesn't honor your ESP it is a winning scenario for them and the ESP. A dealer will make more money off a repair if the customer pays for repairs instead of the ESP paying for the repairs.
