So we are again headed to Miami to rent a bike for a week. Initial plan is to cross to the gulf side on 41 to Naples. Is there much to stop at along 41? Going to head up to Punta Gordo to see friends eventually as we check out the west side. Any suggestions are appreciated. Then maybe a run down to the keys for a day or so before heading back to Miami. Thanks for any input from the locals lol.

On 41 to Naples, there is an indian casino at the junction of rt997 that has great food. Everglade city is back in business left at rt29. Some airboat rides and indian villages along the way, but not much else until you get to Naples. If you travel rt 41 (Tamiami) to Punta Gorda it is a slow ride with lots of traffic lights or take 75. Too many great bars To mention from Naples on. If you want suggestions for food and drink let me know. Naples Harley Davidson has free beer, hamburgs and hot dogs on most Saturdays.

Thanks for the info. We are just kicking back for a week with no hard and fast plans. Never been to the gulf side.

Tin City in Naples is a decent stopping place. If your running 41 the entire way your going to hit a lot of stop lights. It's snow bird time too so ride safe.

Clutch1 if you got down a week earlier here in Tampa not only would you get to enjoy Gasparilla festival, but also the NHL allstar weekend is Jan27-28 at the Tampa Bay Lightning's Amalie Arena. That is of course
if you are a Hockey Fan LOL

Don't forget to stop for a photo-op at the smallest post office in the United States! It is about three miles east of Hwy. 29 and 41. Milepost 72, southside. Just for fun you can also send a postcard from there! Enjoy the ride and also stop at one of the Forrest Ranger spots to see the alligators. Coming from Miami will be on your right, really neat to see them up close. Have a place on Marco Island and we really enjoy the Gulf side and surrounding area's. Ride safe and have fun and watch out for the "Q-TIPS", also known as the old [email protected]#$%^.

off US 41, take 29 north, called panther hwy. it goes up into Immokalee, and hits the orange groves. make a loop over to US 27 then south to the keys. stop and see lake Okeechobee, big sugar, big citrus and big cattle country. i ride it several times a yr. personally, I'd stay away from Naples, Tampa, etc. just another traffic laden city with nothing to see. I wouldn't take Krome Av(997) to Keys now, too much construction. just stay on 27 to hwy 1. and when in Key West. there is a great butterfly emporium at South Beach. don't miss it....................oh, and when you get to US27, go north for a bit and visit Mt. Dora, Leesburg area. it's beautiful there, a small artist community. good riding!

If you end up heading south of Miami towards the keys, make sure you stop at the Last Chance Saloon! Lots of history in that place if you want to read up on that. And when you leave there and bang a right out of the parking lot, shortly after that grab a left and head down Cardinal Sound Road. It'll take you into the keys a different way than route 1, and you can stop at Alabama Jacks, another great spot. I also really liked hog heaven, but I forget what key thats on.

If you take 41 to Naples, go south on 29 to Everglades City, check out City Seafood, great fresh fish and it’s right on the water. On the way to the Keys in Whale Harbor about MM 81 has an all you can eat buffet that’s really good also. Where are you renting your bike from, I know the Harley dealers in Miami Dade county don’t rent bikes anymore. There’s an Eagle Rider in Fort Lauderdale close to the airport.

Got the bike from Eaglerider in Miami by the airport. Rented there before. Easy to get to and back to the airport. So far it looks like over to Naples then down to the keys. Ride to key west two years ago and loved the area. Can’t say enough about a week of warm riding weather to ease getting through winter up here.

This past summer, did a quick 5 day trip to Key West . Rode down mid week ( traffic on Fla Turnpike sucked from West Palm Beach thru Miami ) , but traffic wasn’t bad once on US1 and Overseas Hwy. However, we came back Sunday am , and had bumper to bumper traffic from Islamorada mm 80 ( milemarker) north to mainland (Florida City ) approx 50 miles . So I suggest do Key West, Monday - Friday if possible . Also , Google “ Best Florida motorcycle rides “ . Not many of them ... lol , but they will get you off the beaten trail.
Also ... BEWARE OF THE BLUE HAIRED SNOWBIRDS !!!!!

Thanks for the intel. We may just take the passenger ferry to key west for the day out of Naples. But we will concentrate on the gulf coast this trip. We figure that we are scouting for our winter home when we finally become snowbirds lol.

** What Bill said! ** Naples, Bonita, etc - will be packed with snowbirds, slow traffic and nothing particularly interesting. I live in Punta Gorda, BTW. This is a nice small town if you get up this way. From here you could also ride to Manasota Key or Siesta Key, which have great roads along the beach. Siesta Key is one of the nicest beaches in the entire country and about 45 minutes from Punta Gorda. Anyway, have fun - but watch out for all the blue hairs driving tanks.
