Headlight change value

For those of us running the Chinese knock off lights or for that matter those running name brand on the 04-13 bikes, I am looking for thoughts before I swap headlights again.

Getting a little older and the eyes don't do dark driving as well as they used to so I try to avoid night riding as much as possible but we all know it still happens.

Went from stock bulbs to a China light in 2015 using whatever the DayMaker knockoff was at the time. Sunpie maybe....

Do LED's get weaker with age? Yes I know I am trying to make excuses for my eyes, so that answer is probably no.

I have seen several post on the Veisutor light being installed on several of the newer roadies but haven't seen a post for the preRushmore bikes and looks like there is one out that fits those bike.

Has anyone installed preRushmore to replace a DayMaker style light? Thought if there was an improvement in nighttime riding over the Daymakers?

I just went from the OEM headlights to a Hogworkz Halo Maker setup and it was a HUGE improvement for my 2011……. Before Mike U made me a great deal, I was getting ready to pull the trigger on this one….

Dual LED Headlight for Motorcycle Road Glide 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 (Black) https://a.co/d/9yURRPi

Figured WTF for $130….. I’d bet good money that all the Chinese shit regardless of brand is made in the same factory…..

I'm not a fan of the daymakers or the cheapy alternatives to the daymakers so I kept the stock lights. I went from my stock 09 incandescent H4 bulbs to replacement H4 LED's I got off ebay for like $30. and I have zero complaints. I'm lighting up street signs a mile down the road with just the low beams lol.

That is the light I am running now, sure its the same unit just with a different name stuck on the back. Like you I agree they all come from the same plant.

I have seen several post about guy swapping the factory led to what looks like the light above on late model bikes and being happy with the results. I can't imagine there being different results from early to late model bikes.

I may turn out to be the guinea pig on this one.

Not quite ready to drop a grand on a set of Clearwaters.

I started down that route originally and not sure why I changed and went with the headlight replacement rather than just led bulbs.
If I remember right when I installed the LED headlight assembly I had to drill a hole or enlarge a hole for the bracket, but I could be mistaken. I would have to tear it apart to see if there was a way to go back to the OEM assembly with LED bulbs

I switched from stock/2010 housing with HID bulbs to a Sunpie Daymaker knock-off a couple of years ago. It's still just as bright if I look at it, but doesn't light up the whole road like it used to. I think it's just because most vehicles are LED now so I can no longer tell if it's my headlights lighting up the road signs.
The LEDs themselves will likely start to dull over time but I'm nowhere near 10,000 hours on them. So it's so far so good for my $129 purchase.

Your running the same light I currently run.

Never really thought about the rest of the auto world running the LED's now. That may be part of the issue too. I get in my truck and the lights on it light up everything. Maybe that is what I have got used to, and am trying to compare the bike to. Using that logic I can also claim my eyes aren't that bad....lol.

I would guess I have somewhere around 50,000 miles on these lights however many hours that would equate to

I put the LED bulbs in several years ago. I wound up converting my 09 bezel to the 2010 bezel so I no longer have to remove the entire fairing to get to the headlights.
Here’s mine with the Halo Makers on low beam……. On high they’ll melt your eyeballs, lol……. I’d say they’re 4x’s brighter than the OEM halogens, and 3x’s brighter than the OEM housings with LED bulbs just because of how they’re designed…..

I rarely ride at night, but I think their increased visibility is better for day riding….

Love ‘em Mike. Even better once I got the T brace between the lights installed. I also fab’d up two additional mounts with metal braces and rubber grommets that help support the outsides of each light to the fairing…. They’re solid now and no more vibration…….

Those sure look good

I didn't realize there was a difference in the 09 and 10up bezel. Pulling the fairing to change bulbs is a pain and that was another thing that drove me to the led's when I changed them
I originally put led bulbs in my 2011 FLTRX they were better but scattered the light everywhere, then I got a set from eagle eyes the whole daynaker and I love it , great cut off and projects down the road nicely only cost me about 225 on a holiday sale a few years ago, zero complaints.

I think that is pretty much the same light I am running now. So I am back to the eyes are just getting old
I am 54 but I had cataract surgery a few years back due to a condition and a long story I won't get into , point is have you gone for an eye exam? Just saying I see a specialist every year .
Here are some knock-off halo LED’s for $159.

VEISUTOR Dual LED Headlight with Halo Ring for Road Glide 04-13, LED Head Light Headlamp Front Lamp Kit with High Low Beam DRL Halo Rings for Harley Road Glide 2004-2013 Accessories https://a.co/d/5saAQZx

The halo and low beam setup looks the same as my Hogworkz, however my high beam setup has 3 lenses at the bottom where these just have a single larger lens….. Not sure if there’s a pro or con to that….. The reviews show 4.4 out of 5….. One Bad review for condensation inside the lens over time, and for the bezel falling off…. Probably didn’t have it snapped in correctly as I’ve noticed mine can be a little finicky until you get a firm snap……

Yeah when the 2010 FLTRX came out they had the same fairing just a different bezel and no bubble. I got all the stuff from my local dealer for like $30. to convert it

Thank you,,
Sounds like a swap is going to happen the next time the fairing is off
