I came from a Sportster 1200 custom. I had never ridden a bike with a heal shifter. When I got mine the dealer had the heal shifter over 2 " from the floorboard. It was very uncomfortable to raise my heal high enough to shift. I just continued using my toe shifter. Today I finally got to take a close look and saw that there is an adjustment screw. It now sits about an inch over the floorboard. After a short ride, I am now a heal shifter for life and will save money on boots! The dealer surely didn't check that before they delivered the bike to me.

They are all probably just set that way from the factory. You always have to make slight adjustments to the bike so it's comfortable to you. The first thing I did when I bought the bike is take the heel shifter off

I could never get used to heel shifter so i removed mine as well and moved toe shifter to its place. Had to fab a spacer to fill up the gap though, its a lot more comfortable to me.

I love mine. I'm in the military so having a shifter option that means the toes of my boots won't get messed up is a plus. I had the dealer for this bike set my heel shifter as low as it would go and still shift. I actually had to raise it a bit because it wouldn't reliably go from first to second without stomping on it a little. Just not enough leverage I guess. It was a little embarrassing revving the bike in neutral once in a while until I raised it up.

I had the heel/toe shifter on my Ultra when I was still on active duty. It did save the hard work on my polished boots.

That is the best adjustment , low , however as much as I love the heel/toe , I love a full floorboard more , so my heel is removed , took the HD end cap and drilled it out ( 1/2" ) and cut the rubber bumper in half , now the spacer is between the shifter and the bike , flush to the outside ..

AAAHH active duty , retired a lifetime ago ..
