I actually don't have a RG yet but hopefully soon. I took my wife to the Harley dealership and bought her an expensive leather jacket so now she is now onboard with my plan LOL! So it is only a matter of time...

I am actually from Cornwall in the UK and started riding motorcycles back in the early 80's in Edinburgh Scotland. I was actually a motorcycle courier (aka dispatch rider) in Edinburgh for about 3 years. Lots of rain, ice and cobbled streets to cut your teeth on. From that point on I have been a bit of a hooligan rider and I think getting a RG will hopefully calm me down to a more mature enjoyment of riding.

I remember when I was a kid I used to dream about touring the US on a Harley but it still has yet to happen. We have lived here for almost 30 years but they work you so hard in this country there is hardly any vacation time to do anything. I think the UK has something like a mandatory 6 week paid vacation a year deal whereas here you will be lucky to get 2.

I have had probably about 30 bikes over the years but only one Harley (a dyna low rider). Anyhow, long story short, I have had my eye on a RG ultra for a while and I think it is almost coming together and I should have one soon. I just wanted to join this forum so I can learn as much as I can about the bike as it will likely be the last bike I ever buy.

cheers
Spong!

Cool indeed , so where are you now ?? Been to Portsmouth and London in 1977 as a part of playing Navy ..

And welcome from middle Bama

JtB

We live in Ashburn in northern Virginia right now but are looking to relocated somewhere warmer and cheaper in the next couple of years. Maybe something like Arizona.

I actually have ties with both Portsmouth and London. My Dad was in the Royal Navy for almost 50 years and I had two sisters also in the Navy. The main difference between the US and UK Navy is that we have fully equipped pubs onboard our ships lol.

Arizona is starting to suck with all the newbies leaving the places they let go to shit and guess what's creeping here?

As far as England, did a tour, 4 years, RAF Upper Heyford, by Oxford. You know that. Cornwall, "the tip" LOL...went to Wales once to offload some munitions... interesting place. Best tour in my 22 years in USAF. Back when in the military, Men were Men and sheep were scared...😂...love England outside London. It's cool AF to visit, spend time seeing the sights, but the country, the villages, the pubs, the people. So, all that said, I could talk for hours on that tour alone, butt, welcome! Go get that bike, she will love you long time! Ride On!

I rode around the UK quite a lot back in my youth. I know the Oxford area pretty well and remember visiting my sister who lived on an RAF base around there somewhere, I don't know if it is the same one. I sure do miss the pubs though.

So in Arizona does it get so hot that it gets really uncomfortable on a bike? I guess that would be the trade off with no more riding in the cold and rain.

Riding is nice, summer is winter...butt you can ride after sunset, really nice. The other 8-9 months are perfect. Just rode up to watch football, back home. Nice ride. Be like this till May.

Like Florida I imagine...
