FYI

I needed to update my radio to help with the VOX cutting in and out at the wrong times. Updating can be a PIA so I figured I'd post what I found.

Radio update download site

Use new CD media if you can. Burn the disk as a data disk (ISO9660). Windows built in burn feature doesn't seem to work. Nero Burning ROM worked for me. Burn as slow as possible!

Here is the settings that worked for me:
No MultiSession
ISO9660 with Juliet
Disk at once
4x burn speed
New Verbatim CD-R media from Best-buy

I made about 6 coasters before getting it right and updating the software.
The radio will hang at "Validating DSP image" if things aren't dead on. Later I found the radio failed the update with the error "Wrong CD Version" when I was using older CD-R media.

An update will proceed as follows if it is going to work:
1. be sure there are no CDs in the radio
2. Power off bike
3. hold two soft keys (the keys that line the display) while switching the bike to accessory
4. Radio shows diagnostics page and second soft key on right says "Update"
5. push Update and the radio will ask you to insert the update CD
6. The radio will display "Validating DSP image" for about 30-60 seconds
7. It will then read in the data and this should take about 2 minutes or less
8. It will then show "updating" and a percentage for about 30 seconds
9. The radio will switch to a lower level run state and display a message at the top with a percentage. At the bottom it will show it initialize the CD and then move to "Establish ICB communications" . It will hang out here for about a minute or so and then it should move to updating firmware. This is where I kept getting wrong version with the old CD-R media.
10. After the percentage reaches 90% it will show "Almost there" and then after it reaches 99% it will show "Successful". Note that it never shows 100% at this point before the radio reboots itself.

After you're done you can use the procedure to put the radio back in diagnostics and check that the versions are up to date.

The update does seems to help a good bit so I'm happy with my efforts.

Your local HD shop can likely do this update in 10 minutes for you though I don't know if they charge for it.

As with everything, do the update and follow my instructions at your own risk.

i think that is the important part. seems a lot of folks would have problems updating if they didn't finalize the cd. and if you are able to go slower than 4x, do that too. even at 1x it doesn't take long to burn, and the slower the better.

What does the update give you? Is the list of enhancements published anywhere?

I did my update last night, confirmed the installation was good, but I have no idea either what or why I did it. Does anyone know what the upgrade actually consists of?

The reason I upgraded was that I was told that the .25 upgrade which is the latest included some fixes for VOX activation on the intercom. I have confirmed that it did improve the cut-in/cut-out timing.

Depending on what version you had would determine what all the update "fixes".
