Good week to my shark brothers!

My '16 FLTRXS just broke 1k miles after my ride to the Rock Store in SoCal. My local dealer is out of service manuals and it will take 7 days to get one shipped there...

...So my reason for this thread is to ask for resources my fellow wrenchers used to do their 1k service. I know my oil change basics but what else is necessary besides making sure everything is tight and all electrical is working? *All tips, help, advice, and knowledge on my first 1k service ever would be greatly appreciated!* Links to previous posts and threads or other online material or just good old fashioned directions from you guys would help a young brother like me :D

on my oils/lubricants I have narrowed it down to:

Engine oil- Mobil 1 20w/50, Amsoil, and redline
Primary- Redline, HD+, or amsoil/moblie 1(if they have any specific lubricant for it)
Tranny- most likely REDLINE

Any input or preference on oils/lubricants would be just as welcomed!

Everything you need to know is in the OWNERS manual. What needs to be done, and how much lube, etc.

I don't believe torque values are in the Owners manual.

I bought the Service Manual. Just hope the information in there is accurate. Some forums I have belonged to have "stickys" related to issues found in the Service Manual.

To Kevin, I chose to use the Harley stuff purchased from my selling dealer to possibly keep them happy if I have a warranty claim. I can show the MOCO that I am using their products so they can't squawk.

I will move to other fluids this fall, or when I hit 10,000 miles, whichever comes first.

I would be willing to bet that a majority of Harley techs, don't look up torque values.

As far as fluids, all you have to use is use oils that meet or exceed OEM specs. A warranty claim can NOT be denied for using some other brand of oil. Google Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. In fact my dealer sells aftermarket oils, and actually recommends them over the OEM stuff..

I just did my loop to the Rockstore, then Neptune's then road up the coast to route 150, then road to Deer Lodge in Ojai. Man we need to get our riding days down and hit it brother.

This weekend! Saturday's I'm free after 1. And Sunday's after 11. Keep me posted and I'll let you know if my group has any planned rides yet. I would love to do your route or hit up Santa Barbara to go to cold spring tavern.

Not sure what your point is, except to help me feel confident in my decision to work on my bike myself.

The only times I have let techs work on my bikes were warranty claims and recalls. The next time I went to work on those bikes I found cross threaded fasteners. :frown:
