Just put my T-max in last weekend and was wondering what others are getting for rpm's at idle warm? Mine is still idling at 1050 or so, where it seems my 011 dyna idle's a bit lower with the T-max. It sounds like it is screaming at 1050 and I'm thinking 950 might be the magic number. It is an 08 96ci, no mods other than
a k&n and mufflers.

I don't have a T Max but I believe stock idle is approximately 1100 or so for injected bikes

According to the stock tune I pulled out of the bike with my power vision idle is set at 1000(FLTRU2012) I have not used the T-max but with the PV you can adjust this. There also other tables that take over to warm up the bike.

Just wondering what anybody else ended up at as far as idle rpm goes.
This is one of the features of the T-max, that it will lower the idle.
My Dyna kinda got there on it's own......

T-max suggest something like 870 rpm but I find this to be a bit low. I run mine around 925 which is still a bit low for the charging system. HD sets the idle at 1100 and I think that it is because of the electronics in the newer bikes, the higher idle supports higher voltage at idle.

Also consider you get less oil pressure with lower idle RPM.

Open the map file up and got to the "basic module tuning" constants table in the tree under the AFR , timing etc. I believe it's the last "+" sign on the left side of the screen towards the bottom of the expandable tree. In that table you can adjust your target idle rpm. Depending on your build, timing etc, you may also need to adjust the ignition timing at idle also it seems to "hunt" idle or fluctuates more than you feel is reasonable. Are you sending data collections in to Thundermax and expression your concerns to them? They usually get back with you at least within 24 hrs but there are a couple of tables you need to fill out that give them details on the performance of the bike thought it's entire operating range from cold starts to hot starts and all points of operation. To do a data collection, you need to connect to the TMax with your computer, select from the menu up top "auto support" IIRC, the click "collect data" you will be prompted to start the data collection and then just start the bike, after making sure the "link" and "monitor" icons ubove all the data are green. Now start the bike and make sure a small window is open that says "monitoring data". It should show real time info with little blue squares scrolling accross the "monitoring data" screen. Let the bike just idle until the engine temp reaches 230 F. After reaching that point, increase engine rpm to 1500 rpm and hold for at least 15 seconds, then increase again by 500 rpm and hold for 15 seconds until you done 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000 and 3500 RPMs all for 15 seconds each if possible without exceeding 280 degrees F. After you've completed this, click the "stop logging" button in the small window with the blue squares scrolling accross it. After clicking "stop monitoring", the green "monitoring icon above all of the data should be red. If it's still green, click on the monitor icon and it will turn red. Now click the green "link" button to the left of the monitor button. Do not unplug the USB cord from the computer until the link and the monitor buttons have both Ben turned to red. Now you can unplug the USB from the TMax module. Make sure you have an internet connection and click from the top menu "auto support" or something like that and then in the drop down click "transmit auto collection data". You can the write the learned offsets and go ride it. When you come back you and run the auto map feature and run "automap" again and you can see how many points it's changed and how much it has changed them. I suggest at least a 30 minute ride and try to hit all areas of the engine operation rpm range after the engine has reached normal operating temps and then you can read the offsets again, write the learned offsets again and then do another stationary data collection to send to them again if you wish.

By the way, the TMax is very popular in the Asian market for HD's. While I was touring he facility they were working on setting them up for that market. The Asians like their Harley's to idle at 750 rpm and after the bike has warmed up some, it will idle at 750 rpm if you set that as the target idle and believe it or not, too end they claim gets enough lubrication and it doesn't stumble if dialed in correctly when blipping the throttle.

I agree with most everything here except on the data collection you start at 1500 rpm and go up 500 rpm every 15 seconds but stop at 3000 rpms, no need to go to 3500 rpm for there use at T-max.
