I appologize as I'm sure this has been asked repeatedly.......But I am in a bit of a hurry & don't have time for the search engine......

I want to upgrade my speakers.......w/ other things I have going on, I am on a bit of a budget os here are my 2 options:

1) The J&M 3 ways w/ a 500W Amp(cheapie) for about $175.00
2) the new J&M 7.25 kt as they are for about #225.00

Which is going to be the better bang for the buck and if any who have similar set ups how much volume & Clarity will I get from either in compairison to the stock set up? I am useing the stock H/K head unit......

Thanks all.........

If you make a hurried decision without doing a little research, you will regret it. Every time you hear distortion, weak bass, or muffled highs, you'll be sorry. What's the rush?

I have the 7.25 J&Ms and am not too happy with them. After my Alaska trip, I'll be doing a total audio upgrade and the J&Ms will come out. I'm not yet what will take their place.

Not an expert but I have read about every audio thread on here. My take is there are guys who are really into getting a great sound on their bike who spend a lot of money on this stuff and are never completely satisfied. If you are not one of those guys I think you will be happy with the 7.25s. Pleanty of volume at 80 mph with a full size windshield. You will not get much base out of them but they are the best I have found without running an amp. You can find them on e-bay for under $210 now. I just got a pair and am happy with them. At first I didn't think they were that great but they have grown on me. I read somewhere that you need to give them some time to break in the cones.

I recently installed Harley Boom audio. Much improvement over stock. No amp but I think I would have to go there to get deep bass. But as it is, it's good for clear audio and so so bass.

i just installed the 7.25/amp system with the sony head unit and the system sounds good.... mind you I am in the middle of a complete overhaul and have not put any miles on this bike yet, but after spending 700+ on this system I'm hoping that it works out .....

What kind of amp is it?
The system i bought is the Hogtunes 7.25 Amp/speaker kit for the Road Glide and its all plug and play.... The amp bolts right on the fairing bracket and it works nice.... Im thinking about installing a set of speakers in the inner fairing pointing at the fork legs, as this kit will let you run rear speakers....:D

Showtime , Did you install the system yet ? If not take a pic of the back of the speaker for me if possible. I have the older Hog tunes with the 5X7 and 32 W/C amp and was just wondering if they upgraded the speakers.

I rate my system at a 6 out of 10 . I can hear the tunes at any speed but the base and the highs are not all there even at slower speeds.

Thanks for the imput guys........Shrug I hear ya & agree........But currently my fairing is off. Inner going to paint Friday when I get home. Weekend after Easter I'm having a mod party at my place (about 28 of my closest that invited themselves) and I had a couple coins extra so I decided I'd toss in some speakers while putting it all together.

PTE359 I'll check out the RF's before making any decisions.
Thanks

sounds like the 7.25's would be the easiest, phat performance had them for $200... includes brackets and grills.

of course, I had stock, installed boom, then installed polk audio db651s...

the 6.5 rings are a bit of a pain.

I'm not going to do the inner fairing thing at the moment.

the big sound killer on our bikes is the fairing itself.

with the fairing off my polks light up my garage, and are very well balanced.

closed the fairing up, another story.

I'm working on a waterproof/water resistant bass port system, I really feel that will solve most of it.

good luck, I'll post if I have any success with the sound tubes.
