My 2012 RGC developed a problem over the summer. The radio would occasionally lose it's mind and change stations and modes. When this started it would continuously cycle between channels and modes. Also it developed a problem going into limp home mode on start up. I would have to shut the bike off and on to clear it and once it cleared the bike would give me no more problem (except the crazy radio.)

It ended up being the iPod interface causing me all the grief. I pulled it and have not had a problem in months. It was an iron cross unit and I had problems with it in the past as well.

However I miss it......

Also check the wire bundle where it exits the hand controls, and goes into the dimple on the bars. It's really easy to pinch a wire or two when you reassemble the brake or clutch mount. Shorts it to ground, and will cause the same issues.

Been there done that. Got the tee shirt...

I checked the cabling from the radio to the radio. I had the fairing off and turned the switch to aux and waited for the radio to start cycling. Did it a couple of times and it took between 1-5 minutes each time. Then I disconnected the iPod interface from power and switched it to aux again and waited for the cycling to start. It never did. The unit was still connected to power at that point but pulled out of the wiring harness. So I don't think it had anything to do with power spikes. The problems are clearly gone as it has been months without incident where I could complete a short ride prior without the radio going nuts.
