Indie Ridge Boots

A couple of weeks ago, I picked up a pair of boots from Indie Ridge and I gotta say, they're pretty sweet on the feet.

I stumbled onto them from an ad somewhere and noticed they have a phone app for Iphone, not sure if Android has one too, but anyway, I'm pretty happy with them so far. They are actual motorcycle boots in the sense that there is a lot of support for the ankles and it's a very well made boot. They've also got a few certifications for safety as well.

I picked up a pair of Knights, which are ventilated leather boots. I wish I had gotten these earlier in the season, when it was a lot hotter out. You Arizona and Texas folks would love them! I can literally feel the air on my feet when I turn them certain angles. Good stuff.

I'm planning on going with a non ventilated pair in the future and picking up a few pairs of gloves, also.

What finally sold me, was catching a video interview on Rainy Riders YT channel, with the owner, Steve. This guy takes a lot of pride in offering a quality product that does what it say it does and he encourages feedback. He even mentions in the interview that it can take about a month to break them in and to let them know if you're not happy with them after 30 days. Plenty of other reviews on good ole YT, as well.

I made a little comment when I ordered about how I saw the video and was impressed with the owner and a couple days later, the owner himself reached out to me, about the kind words about his product and to let him know how I like the boots.

To me, this kind of support is a dying trait in a lot of business' nowadays.

Just thought I would pass along the info in case anyone was in the market for a new pair of kickers/masks and/or gloves.

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I like to read real life reviews on products as well. Indie Ridge seems to make nice stuff.

I like to see small USA companies thrive. Hopefully he's not farming it out to Pakistan or someplace and keeping the mfg process here. I get it's a global econony, and I shop at WalMart, and buy stuff from Amazon, but there are some items where I appreciate tradition and quality.

I've owned a pair of indie ridge boots for about a year now and I must say, the more you wear them, the more you will like them. I did put a more comfortable pair of insoles in mine and I can wear mine all day of riding and walking and never wish I could just take them off. They get even more comfortable like a good pair of sneakers. Been looking at getting another pair.

Awesome man.

If I may ask, how was the sizing for yours?

I’m usually a 10.5 and that’s what I ordered and I think I should’ve gotten a 10, since they should stretch out a bit the more I wear them.

I actually mentioned that to Steve in emails and he said to wear them for a month or so and let him know if they stretch out too much.

Im looking at picking up a pair of Comanches and I’ll go with a 1/2 size down just to see.

P.S. I forgot to mention in my initial post, that they allow you one free size exchange if you don’t think the fit is right for you.

Well, as far as sizing, I wear a 13 in HD boots and the indie ridge I found a 14 to best suit me. Kinda of like sneakers, I wear a 14 in nike, but 13 in others. That's part of the reason I went with indie ridge, they were one of the few mfgs. that offered man size boots! 🤣. You won't regret getting them! That being said, mine are the waterproof version, so I'm not sure how much stretching there is to them.

Wow, you actually went up a size. My HD boots are a spot on 10.5.

I love them so far but I too think I may change the insole. They’re fine when I’m riding but I walked around for a day in them and think I want to cushion it up a bit more.

Yeah, my HD boots are spot on as well, but since I put some good insoles in my indie ridge, they took up some real estate inside. I guess you were right on the stretch, they did seem a little tighter on my foot the first month or so, but now it seems like they have just molded to my foot, like a good pair of broken in shoes. I know it's a lot of cash for some high top shoes, but man, they're worth it!

Looking at the website if he is making them in the US he doesn't mention it and you would think he would. Regardless, it is a nice looking product and I may try a pair myself.

I saw they have a store on poshmark but you give up the live fast guarantee. Plus final sales and if you're like me and every new shoe brand you try is an adventure in sizing, might not be best choice. They are significantly discounted at 110 bucks though.
That is a big chunk of change to save BUT, I would say if you wanted to go that route, make sure you get the sizing down first.

Indie Ridge has had 2 sales within the last 30-45 days. I would just keep an eye out for sales since the holidays are coming up.

We may get lucky.

Agreed. No way I would go that route without first knowing a size. Figured might help someone though who already knows what size they are or who doesn't have issues with buying shoes.

For me I fluctuate anywhere from an 11.5 to a 13. Shoes are typically 13 and boots are 11.5 but that doesnt always hold true.

Picked these up at local farm store for $50. They had them on a markdown table along with a pair of size 13s. Retail on Amazon is $179. Made in China but for 50 bucks I couldn't pass em up. They feel better on my feet than any new boot I have ever put on. Already got a good black mark on the left one from the shift lever but who cares. Safety toe and waterproof.

Prior to my current position I used to be on my feet all day. Anywhere from 60 to 80 hour work weeks. I've always has issues with my feet and finding good footwear for all day wear and carhartt are the best I've come across. I've never had boots but they make a hiking style shoe that I've bought for like 5 years straight. New pair every year or so

Also was composite toe so that weight savings was nice and bonus that I didn't have to remove shoes to go through the metal detectors

I looked at the website and notices something was missing. They do not say anything about oil and slip resistant soles
TCX is the only ones that come to mind for a sneaker style that claim oil resistant.

That's part of reason I have the boots I do that I primarily wear, Forma Eagles, because they have a lug sole. Most boots I found had a traditional flat sole and I didn't get the grip I liked in them. At the time, the house I lived in, I had to stop at a stop sign on an incline with loose gravel/dirt/rocks and needed a guarantee of good slip resistance. A couple times over the last few years I've almost dropped my bike and I believe those lugs helped me keep it upright bc when I stab my foot in to the ground...they just stick.

All the various options in a sneaker style seems to have a real similar style of sole and none, obviously due to the style, are lug sole. But to be frank, with the heat we've been having here and the fact that my boots are "water proof" and thus don't breathe well I've slipped in to a bad habit of just grabbing some Adidas sneakers I have laying around and wearing those on short jaunts around town and what not. Not very good protection wise, if at all, and no slip resistance at all. I have been super mindful about coming to a stop for that reason

I’m thinking of picking up a pair but when I check the Interwebs they show they are made in Pakistan.
For those that had to add new insoles what brand did You go with?
These do look like great riding boots but I’m still a little leery.

I get the not made in USA thing, but sometimes that's just hard to get around. When I first got mine, I had some Dr Scholls inserts laying around and put those in there because I wasn't sure if I was going to like them or not. Turns out, they worked very well for me. I can ride and walk around all day in them and it seems they get more comfortable the more times I wear them. More broken in. Glad I got them. They seemed a little tight at first, but super comfortable now. Had them for about a year now and have held up very well.
