When i use my phone to play music via Bluetooth everything works fine as far as volume and tracking music from my hand control. If i plug my phone into the USB port in the glove box i can only turn volume up and down, not track through music. Anyone else have this problem or know what might be the problem?

Mine does the same thing, what happens is the Boom system can only read a folder or two deep into any "file system".

Imagine plugging a USB into a computer and viewing the contents of a file inside a folder and you'll quickly understand if you don't get that concept.

On a phone, your music files are pretty much "buried" and Boom cannot find its way to the music files to play them. So the system resorts to allowing you to use what it can control which at that point is only volume. Music selection will be manual like what you're doing now.

You will get a different response from a USB stick if the file type is correct (music format is one that Boom can understand) and placed on the stick in search able folders. You'll have full functionality with the hand controls at that point.

When using Bluetooth, you choose the file and the music plays directly from the phone to the system with no barriers. Plus the bluetooth connection itself controls forward/backward/volume/search functions.

A bit wordy but hopefully I explained thoroughly and you're not more confused...

There is also a setting in your radio for the operation of the left joystick to either Scan or Seek. One will change stations/sources the other will skip from song to song on the same source. I think the default steps through your favorites. ie. Stations/sources.
I have 300 or so songs on my iPhone and never a problem when plugged in.

Thanks guys. I’ll check this stuff out. Had a buddy with 4 times as many songs on his phone try it out on his bike and it worked so i figured mine must be screwed up in some way either the radio or a setting.

sounds like the setting of that left joystick is the way to go beyond the book explanation I wrote earlier! That's my geek side coming out...
