I am installing a heated CVO seat on my 15 RGS and have a question about routing the required ELECTRICAL CONNECTION UPDATE KIT which is required. The cheesy instructions from HD say to "lift the tab and remove the BCM from the electrical caddy" to route the wiring behind it. I can't see how that would give more room as opposed to removing the two bolts holding in the caddy assembly and pulling it away from the bike a little. Has anyone done this that can shed light? I hate touching any electrical parts unnecessarily that may end up throwing a code later on. TIA. Btw the part number for the harness is 69200722. Thanks again.

Only way you’ll throw a code is if you you pinch, ground, short or disconnect a wire. All you’re doing is routing a wire, so moving wires around isn’t going to hurt anything. So long as you’re not routing the wire where it’ll eventually get pinched, rubbed raw, or stretched so bad that it disconnects over time, you’ll be fine. You just need to allow enough room for the plug end to pass through.

Edit: Law Abiding Biker shows the installation of that harness, I had seen it when researching how to wire heated hand grips; it requires use of that same harness. He too removed the bolts to fish the wire, so might give you an idea how to do it.

Ok so the wiring of the harness was super easy....installing the seat is driving me nuts. I cant get it to seat correctly. My bike is a 2015 RGS and this seat came off a 2015 RG Ultra CVO. The other difference in bikes is that i have the adjustable rider backrest. Anyone know if the CVO seat is compatible with the adjustable backrest?

Which adjustable backrest do you have? There are two types, but that shouldn’t matter as long as you have the two up seat, you should be able to make it work. Might just have to relocate the backrest bracket. I don’t know whether the CVO backrest assembly is specific to that model but the one they show is what’s called the “chicken neck” style.
