Just scored a set of used heritage bars that I plan on installing on my 2009 RG, I have a service manual and I'm use to changing bars out on the old type cable throttle systems used in the past. Can anyone give me a step by step way to do this quickly and painlessly so I can save some time. I've got alot going on right now and I don't have alot of time to waste and I'm sure someone has done this enough to know all the little secrets. Thanks in advance.....

the biggest piece of the process is that you have to remove the fairing to loosen the TBW cabling so it has enough slack to get the TBW control out the end of the bar to disconnect it. Other than that and reversing the same process, it's like most any other bike.

Is there a disconnect or do you have to pull the pins from the connector?

It's fairly easy to disconnect. Unplug it from the harness inside of the fairing first, and then feed it out of the end of the bar until you get to the plug, about 8". I had to do this when I installed the heated grips.

If you don't have one already, I'd suggest buying the service manual. It's outlined in it, and notes not to tug too hard or you'll break the plug requiring a new throttle position sensor...

Do your Heritage bars have a rather large oval hole at the base? If not, you're gonna have to make one to get the throttle wires inside of them...
