For a RGU the iPod interface is a little easier. It comes with the 35 pin connector and the only empty spots in the connector is for the interface wires.
This the back of the radio 35 pin connector is on the right.unplug and take all the tape off and wire tie it will make it easier when installing the pins

This is the back of the connector the white pins are the seal pins and those are the ones u remove with needle nose pliers and the iPod interface wires go in just follow the instruction for the kit.

In some sites they say u dont have to remove the the red plastic lock on front of connector i did could not get pins pushed in this pic is how I put the wires again remove the electrical tape and wire ties make it easier to push pins in.

On the RGU there is a 6pin connector on the left side(this is if u are looking at the front)this is a male female connector in the iPod interface wiring kit u connect the male and female ends together.
