What are you guys running for a GOOD trouble free 4 channel amp. I want to spend my money one time. I see a lot of great reviews on the JL XD series. What about the Soundstream PN 4/520 or an Alpine or Rockord(not pbr series) I do not want this thing getting hot or destroying my Hertz speakers that I plan to run. Plan to run 2 HCX Hertz in the stock location and a set of Hertz HCX 690's in the bags.
Rms for the 690 is 130 and I think the 6.5's are 100rms

You can get them for around $380.00 -$350.00 I dont know how much they used to be or how cheap you can get them. Alot of guys claim they have never had an issue with the JL xd series.

biketronics has a nice D class amp, similar to the xD

hawg wired are tiny and powerful

I like the PBR 2 channel because they fit, and have a full sweep and remote

my first 2 sets of speakers went for a couple reasons, hurried installation, & being over driven until I bought lids and added another amp to calm the push levels to more of a normal state

I actually went back and installed pressure release holes under the speaker baskets

re sanded and deburred, realigned for trueness

everything I have on the bike this year, made it though plenty of rain and miles and is still just as nice

the rockford 2 channel amps are so inexpensive, they seem like a write off, but they make some good power, and squeeze nicely, I recommend 2 of those v. a 4 channel, just my take. plus the PEQ

heat, I have had more heat from my head unit than the amps themselves

yes, I'd rather have class D, and mono blocks, more specifically, but the pair of stereo amps is enough and very practical

I have the sound stream 520 in my bike running 2 Biketronics Titan speakers, and it is loud... But I am thinking of selling my sound stream setup and going with the Biketronics amp because I am Paranoid of the amp getting wet and shorting out being I ride in the rain quite frequently.

i had to be different! Im running the Massive Audio BX4 and id put it up against any of those. Ran a NX2 to four Hertz 6.5 in the front fairing for over a year never had any issue at all so just upgraded to the BX4 and Camtech speaker lids. The amp fits inside the fairing on top of my radio and powers 3 pairs of Hertz 6.5" components. Only been a couple weeks but its loud clean and has yet to shut off no matter how hard i drive it.

The search is over. I found a brand new JL Audio XD400/4 . Seller wanted 350 and my low ball offer of 295 was excepted. Thats what I'm going with.

torqu,

I wish I had your luck. I'm looking to replace my PBRs with either an Alpine PDX-V9 or JL XD600/6. There really is nothing wrong with the PBRs. It is just that I'm running a set of 8" subs (parking lot fun) and my 300x2 doesn't push them as hard. So rather than add the 500x1, I just decided to go with a single amp solution. Anyways, good luck on your install. I read somewhere that the mounting holes match perfectly to the saddlebag lids.
