I dont think any of these Harley knockoffs are giving the MoCo any real competition to speak of .. I think they all look cheep and silly .. Mostly cheep .. But ya know any Harley , even the Sportster which I despise , has soul ..

Ya either understand or ya dont ..

I hadda guy tell me he gave up on Harley when they went to the EVO and belt drive .. Well the belt is less maintenance than the chain , and much less maintenance than his shaft drive Suzuki that looks like a water buffalo .. Well they did have that humugous water cooled thing back inna '70's everybody dubbed a water buffalo , and it is the only thing I cud think of to call it ..

They cater to those who dont want a Harley or cant afford a Harley , and they tell everybody "looks like a Harley" ..

I dont even give 'em a second look , dont give 'em a first look if I can help it ..

Nah I aint pregidous , I wanna Ducati MultiStrada ..

Ah now I feel sooo much better ...

BaggerDriver, the day I give up on Harley-Davidson is when they come out with a shaft driven motorcycle. I accepted the V-Rod with it's liquid cooled engine only because it was exclusive to that model.

Air cooled v-twins...It's worked for over 100 years. Chains and belts - OK...no driveshafts, please!

Yeah, to get military contracts with the US Gov't. during WWII. You see how well that went over!

Do I detect a squirm there Dave ??

They did "come out with a shaft drive"

Now dont go puttin' no conditions to it , I know where Evans Jawja is and I cud always use another bagger ..

Sounds like ya put conditions on the VRod as well ..

Well if the guvmint keeps it up , you'll be onna water cooled Harley one day ..

No squirm, BD...I actually did forget about the XA until you mentioned it, but I was talking about modern era Harley-Davidson. All Harley was doing with the XA was emulating the BMW motorcycle so they could get contracts with the Army. They made those for a couple years in numbers around 1000?

And to be honest...again...I'd love to ride a V-Rod. I hear they are super fast.

They ride a lot like a RGC, except lighter. They are not very good on the Highway though. Too light. They will no longer be making the original VRSC in 2011. The original VROD will be gone :(:(:(
