I'll let you know soon, just ordered them last week. Got dizzy after ready about bars for days and I just pulled the trigger and figure, worst case scenario I change them!

About to walk back to my parts dept and check on their ETA. If they come in this week I'll be installing them over the weekend.

Update: Just got them in and they look pretty good. I'm trying to decide whether to tackle the bars tomorrow on my day off, or wait until I pull the trigger on a stereo upgrade and do it all at once.

The wife doesn't know I bought bars...so maybe I just order the stereo stuff now and only have her mad at me once rather than twice?

You should not have a problem. I just installed some 12" monkeys bars and ran the wiring through them using all stock length wires and cables. I did re routed the clutch cable. You may have to do something if youre using the stock brake lines (i switched mine to a single side disc when i did the 21" front) I saw several posts about having to change cables and add wires and almost decided against going with the 12" bars due to the added expense. I decided to just try and see if i could make it work, now im very happy i did.

Well the KW bars only have a 10'' rise even though they're labeled 12'', just eyeballing them they don't look like a drastic change in height. I guess we'll find out!

I was going to wait on the stereo install, but I might just get the bars done tomorrow. Figure worst case scenario I get a little better at buttoning up the fairing with more practice.

I did in fact follow the "order extra stuff and make her mad all at once" route. Although she doesn't know it yet...but I have a 14'' windvest shield, mustang super touring seat, RF PBR300X2 amp and Polk MM651's on the way.

I had the cyclesmith bag extensions in my virtual cart...but I figured I was in enough trouble already.

Yeah, well I broke the news to my wife in pieces, seemed like a good idea at the time. The conversation started this morning:

Um, you never said you were getting bars.
Yes I did, you probably don't remember.
Humf...whatever.

Then a few hours later:

I'm mad because you didn't tell me, not because you got them.
Well, I ordered a windshield too.
What?
Well you were complaining about the wind, right.
I'm so pissed at you right now.

Then a few more hours:

Well you have to promise not to get mad. (NEVER start a discussion with this)
I'm already mad!
Ok, well I ordered that Mustang seat too.
Are you f**king serious?
Um, yes. But there's a good part.
What's that?
I got a deal on my credit card that was 0% interest for 12 months.
Ok, well that's not too bad, still shouldn't have done that.
Well...since I was already getting the seat, figured it was a good time for speakers and an amp.
*fuming wife that storms away*

So at the end of the day, no bar install today...

I really like your style I just tell my wife I order stuff that I didn't and see how mad she gets and that how I judge what I really get away with. But I would not have gotten this RG that I can't stay off by the way cause my dumb ass was always hell bent on the classics which I still have but one day after a long ride she says go buy a damn touring bike and I said no and she goes good then I'm not going any more the five miles away

Hahaha! Well I was all about old-school looking bikes, slammed with big apes, loud enough to give you a headache, mean as hell. Then I rode this RGU and said "What the heck was I thinking???" Now I can't stop riding this bike, I can just go for miles with no worries about comfort, back issues, arthritis, ect (have some health problems). Unfortunately because I'm riding it so much I just can't stop wanting to modify and upgrade everything.

Well as for the KW Fat Apes that this thread is even about, got all my stuff finally for the stereo install too, so Sunday is looking like the day.

Update:

Ok, finished everything last night but won't have a chance to button up the bike and take pics until Wednesday. At midnight I bolted up the bars and plugged everything in to check functionality...SUCCESS!!! Now I took a sit on the bike without the seat (Mustang comes in today) and I like the bars so far. Quality is good, internal wiring was not nearly as bad as I thought it might be. The bars get a little tight at the top bend, but it took MAYBE 10 minutes per side. Used all stock cables and wiring with no issues, but the TBW is close! There's just enough there to fish the plug through up to the top and plug it in.

I report back with final outcome and pics on Wednesday after I can test fit the bar angle with the seat on the bike.

Hey, Wednesday is almost over. We were supposed to have pics today! The suspense is killin me!?
Hahaha, sorry!!! I finished EVERYTHING up tonight other than a good clean-up (of the bike AND the garage). Bars are friggin awesome, totally comfortable and exactly what I wanted. Love it since I'm 6'3'' with knuckle-dragging long arms and have the bars pretty much vertical. Very comfortable and they look killer.

As for pics, my garage isn't the most well lit so after dark pics didn't come out well. I'll take a few before I head to work tomorrow morning and post them up before lunch.
