My windshield got broken while at the Iron Horse this past bike week. The next day, I went to the Klockwerks trailer at Destination Daytona and the salesman said the Klockwerks windshield of the same height as the Windvest I had on would give me better wind protection, let me hear my stereo better and give better handling. I was dumb enough to believe him. What a mistake. I can't hear the stereo at over 50 MPH, I have been getting hit with bugs and can't wear my favorite glasses because the wind blows them off my face. To make matters worse, when I get off the bike, my ears are ringing from the wind noise. I wish I never wasted my money.

I agree with you. I had one on my 13 road glide and it was ok but not what i expected. Just put a long ride shield on my 16 and that is night and day and yes i tried klockwerks on my 16.

My experience as well; the 8" KlockWerks shield funneled air into my face (hello turbulence, goodbye glasses), however, the 8" WindVest shield done a better job deflecting that air.

My 2010 had a 12" KW on it when I got it and it was the first thing to go. Buffeting was horrible and I went and purchased a WV right away.

I couldn't agree more. My Clockwerk's windshield is one of the best mods I did to the bike. No problem gearing the radio at all unless it is particularly windy and I am moving really fast (which is all the time.)

We need to find out what year bike the OP has. If he has a 2013 and older, you guys with the 2015-16 bike are comparing apples to oranges. Different fairing designs (vents vs. no vents) and the shield is at a slightly different angle. I know the only shield that I will run on my 2012 on long trips is a Madstad. It is the best for function. I put 600mi on a 2015 RGS rental last summer that had a 12" HD Windsplitter and I thought that if I ever bought one of the new bikes that I wouldn't need to get the MS. It was just fine like it was and the KW is probably even better for that bike. The 12" KW that was briefly on my 2010 FLTRX was like the OP said... GARBAGE.

Hi Kudu; it would be more helpful if you said soemthing about what type of shark, your height (inseam) etc. And what type of
If you think WindVest works better for you, fine; but to claim that Klock Werks is «garbage» sounds to me like ranting, no offence intended.
I had a Wind Vest 14" on my SERG but I got a 12" flare instead. The Wind Vest was fine but I chose the Klock Werks Flare because of the improved handling at high speed with added down-force. I have no problem hearing my stereo at 80 mph (and it's not a impressive set up, just 2x7-14" J&Ms with no amp.) Also the Wind Vest is made of acrylic like most windshields wheras the Flare is made of polycarbonate. Bottom line the Klock Werks windshield is a high quality product, not every ones favorite but still a high quality product. Btw I'm 6.4 and have 34" inseam.

I don't think he is calling it garbage based on the material. He is referring to the wind management or at least that's what I got out of it and I agree if that is the case. I tried the 8" and it felt smoother to me than the 12" but couldn't hear the radio. The 8" KW is probably the best looking shield made for these bikes outside of a custom made shield.

What year is your bike?

Hi Ken, I ride a classic SERG (FLTRSEI2) 2001 AD. :)

On subject; yes - you are entitled to an opinion and opinions are like your rear side divided :) But it's a more valid point to say that you are «disappointed», «didn't meet my expectations», «doesn't work for me» etc.
And I don't think Mr. Brian Klock would mind if you wanted you're money back as long as you don't call it «garbage». After all it's not many companies out there who let you try it before you buy it. JMO

I don't disagree that you could go about it a different way but everyone is different. I also feel that sometimes people take things a little bit on the personal side if someone bashes a product that they have on their own bike and happen to like. Sometimes it's easier to just say that they like the product and give their experience instead of telling the negative reviewer he is wrong about how he went about it. But everyone is different...

Ride safe!

My Klock Werks story. Bought a '15 RG in Rapid City during Sturgis this year. It was getting late and I was going to buy one of his windshields. The rest of his employees were loaded up in the 15 pax van and in a hurry to leave, but himself and a 12-13 year old took the time to let me test ride the windshield, re-clean it when I returned and just went out of his way to make it not a hassle at quitting time. The young man he has working for him was the most knowledgeable in the entire group. He didn't have to do that, he could have said, "come back tomorrow you're only getting a windshield. But he took the time to make sure everything was OK. So I don't think his products or customer service is garbage

Great Shield

I've got a 14 inch flair on my '15 RGS. It only sits 9 inches off the top of the dash and works great! I'm 6'1" and I can hear the radio well and it keeps MOST of the air off me. I want some air since I'm on a bike :).

I'm bummed others aren't having luck with it but it's one of the best upgrades I've made.

Looks great Works Great and gets plenty of compliments. Toss up between this shield, seat and bars as far as best mod comfort wise for me

Klock Werxs Sport Flare

Has anyone had any experience with the 9" Klocks Werks Flare windshield. Torn between the 9" and 14". For 2015 RG. Thanks

I'm shopping for a new shield. You are saying the 14 inch sport flare is 9" measured from the top of the infotainment dash? That seems tall vs what I thought if so, it might work out for me.
