Completed my first Iron Butt yesterday. Left Auburn Hills, MI at 1:00am so that we would be ahead of the traffic in Chicago. From Chicago up through Milwaukee, Green Bay to Iron Mountain. Then took highway 2 across the Upper Peninsula to St. Ignace and across the Mackinaw Bridge. Then an easy ride down I-75 back to Auburn Hills.

The first 450 miles were in the dark (thank God for Daymakers), followed by 350 miles of rain with the last 250 being perfect riding weather.

Total milage: 1044
Time: 18 hours 54 minutes

I will be adding highway pegs and rider backrest before the next IB. But other than that, the RGU was awesome!

Nicely done. The most I've ever put on in one day is about 850 and I had to take a nap at rest stop to get that done. To do 1000 in 24 hrs is a big accomplishment.

Congrats and welcome to the club. Dark, rain, no backrest and no highway pegs. That's impressive. Are you a postal carrier?

Well done, welocme to the club. The Lake Michigan 1000 and the 1500 in 36 hrs are on my list for next year. The RGU certainly helps!
