StriderJim all you need is an Air Hawk pad. You don't need to rebuild the seat.

Why not...

I'm 31, 6'2" and about 190-200 lbs. I'm fairly fit and pretty active. Have a not so great back from 10 years of throwing freight. I can ride all day only stopping for fuel, but I prefer to stop every 100 miles or so for a break to stretch and walk around a bit. Makes the destination not so painful.

I currently ride on stock air shocks with a mustang wide tripper solo. I bought the seat with a slot for a backrest and didn't buy the backrest. Never tried one honestly, just figured I might like the option down the road. Longest run on this setup was 400 miles, and I feel I could have gone further if necessary, but I was happy to be done.

Thanks, Tim. I have an Airhawk seat which I used on on an '05 Kawasaki Nomad. But I really like the seat I have, which was stock--customized a bit by MCC. It just has 56,000 miles of me sitting on it, and needs the foam replaced. Low dollar fix.

MCC is booked out over a month, though, so I'll be taking a cross-country ride on it, as is. May dig the Airhawk out and see how it feels.
