I just started a thread about my stereo mods, which only consist of swapping a set of J&M speakers (part number HRUS-05-GTM-B) into the fairing. If you're not looking to do a complete revamp of your system, I recommend these speakers. MUCH better than stock, and only cost me about $110 off of eBay.
There are many variables to this answer (as you can see). If you limit yourself to the two brands then you will have a limited end result and satisfaction. I have been running Polk marine speakers for several years now and they work very well. There is a adapter kit for the 6.5 if you want a little larger speaker but they are excellent for my use (80-85 MPH, 6'2", 200lbs, WindVest 12" windshield). I also have a Hawgwired amp tied to them so I get a little more power. Of course you are only going to get high power nothing on the bottom (bas) unless you start doing crazy stuff. Not sure if that helps.
personally, i like my boom speaker upgrade. i have no amp, sounds a lot better than stock. maybe if i sat side by side to someone else i would hear the difference and not be as happy, but i don't ride with someone else right on top of me so my stereo sounds fine.
on top of that, i'm not worried about the extra weight of the speaker breaking the mounts like has happened to others.
The bike is a '17 RGS. Was working fine until the last software upgrade on the bikes head unit. Got it paired, then it became unpaired on its own. Now, following all directions and fixes, will not pair. Phone works fine wit other devices. Suggestions?
Making room for 3 Diamond Audio amps under the failing: two Micro2v2 500W and one HXM800.4
Amps will be here Thursday. I’ll get them installed next weekend and update with pictures of 1,800W under the fairing... If all goes as planned - LOL

I haven't spent I dime on my bike since my son was born last summer. Time to feed the disease. I pulled the trigger on the all new Sony XAV-AX7000 head unit. It's a big improvement over the 5000. I'll have it in by Tuesday. I'll check back in with my thoughts and a review. I can't wait to...
I thought I would post this as a separate thread for searchability in case this helps anyone in the future. I created a couple of mounts for my Diamond Audio Micro2v2 amps to mount under the wings between the head unit and speaker pods. They are made out of 1/2” HDPE and some brass fittings...
Title says it all. Got the bike yesterday, 2013 cvo. Radio volume button was kind of funky. It would sometimes send the volume to the highest possible point and not let me lower it, and go to 0 and not let me bring the volume up. From the handlebar switches or on the unit itself. Took it for a...
