M8 Street Cannons to S&S MK45 W/baffle Question

Anyone every had the M8 Street Cannon mufflers than changed them out to the S&S MK45 w/baffles installed? If so, in your opinion, how much louder are the S&S on the highway and in town just cruising. I realize when giving throttle, the S&S will be louder and sound better. I have searched this site and the web, but did not find anything on it.

Thanks

I have the street cannons on mine. I had thought of changing out the head pipes to get rid of the cat but FM told me to keep the head pipes, the 22XE would work better with the back pressure from the catalytic converter.
All this to say that with the original head pipes and the street cannons, with this cam, the sound is very deep and quite a bit louder. When I start it up in the morning to head out I let it warm up for a minute while I put on my helmet and gloves, and I can feel the low frequency rumble in my chest. On the highway I get a nice rumble, and when I crack the throttle the sound increase is significant. I had thought about changing for the MK45s, but the sound from the street cannons does the job, not too loud but much louder and deeper than stock.

I’ve had the MK45s on my M8 RGS for a couple years (with V&H Power Dual header) and have run them with and without the baffles. I like them best with the baffles installed and they sound great (personal opinion of course). They are fairly quiet on the road, but this is relative I suppose. These kinds of personal preference questions are hard to answer and you’ll here a bunch of different answers - all opinion, which means there really is no right answer.

Funny you should mention it, I actually have both presently. I’m actually quite shocked as I expected the opposite of what I experienced.

2020 RGS. Stock cam and Ventilator air cleaner, and Race Tuner.

Steet Cannon is louder and better deep sound. Low end Torque is better too. Bike actually is soft and not as loud on the MK 45. Both to sound good, and not obnoxious.

With all that said, the best low-end torque is the stock muffler. I’ve taken all of them off and put them on multiple times with the same results.

Thermodyne is spot on......depending on your set up (intake, cam, & tuner)......you could install the 45s without the db reducer (baffles) on the left side since having both of them off would reduce torque.

I have a stage 2 from FM & have both baffles on......see attached vid for the sound of my combo....

All, thanks for the info. I should have posted that I have the HD pro street and auto tuner with the HD Stage 2 TQ cam, upgraded HD head pipe and street cannons. I think with what I have done, I should be happy with it. I just keep looking for something else, it is a never ending things with Harley’s.
