Madstad Out of Business

Came up on the Pan America forum that Madstad closed their doors and went out of business. Dude that posted it says he was their Production Manager for 8 years before the company was taken over by his nephew who apparently ran it into the ground…….

While I’ve always disliked the way the Madstad looks on the Road Glide (too utilitarian) there’s no question that at least on the pre-Rushmore’s it worked the best. I recently purchased a full Madstad system from them three weeks ago for my Pan America and had a helluva time getting them to ship. Now I know why. They finally did and I got it just a few days before my recent Kentucky trip. It works excellent and is very well made as usual…… Got lucky I guess because an internet search is finding a lot of people got shafted with orders not being fulfilled……. Sad either way that another US small business has gone under……

The Madstad worked excellent on my 2011 but I never could get past how it looked and took it off and put it back on probably a dozen times through the years, lol……. They also made windshields for many other bikes and I’ve used their stuff on a GSA, a Tenere, and a VStrom. I know they were also very popular in the Africa Twin, Triumph, and Versys worlds from what I read on the ADV Rider website…….

They have their place for sure. I had one on my Super Ten also….. Madstad’s are still very popular with the ADV crowd and from what I understand sales weren’t the problem and it was management. They were family owned and when the OG retired and left it to his son, it went under in a few short years…… 🤷🏼‍♂️

No. Madstad was not a family business. I was there for over 8 years as production manager. The owner and founder Mark Stadnyk decided it was time for him to pursue other ventures. The company was taken over through a management agreement by James R Long who unfortunately happened to be my nephew. 2 years later I was released along with my daughter resulting in James having no restraint with his Pinhead ideas about how the company should go forward. The results speak for themselves.

Hate to hear that. Good to know what happened from the horses mouth so to speak rather then reading BS off the internet…. Maybe someone will buy them out as I’m sure the equipment and molds etc are worth quite a bit……

While I personally could never get past the 'ugly factor', I respect that these have a decent fan base on here and I feel bad for those who were looking to purchase one in the near future. Hopefully the actual owner has enough brain power to realize that it still has value, and will sell the company to someone who will breath new life back into it.

I totally agree with Kevin (@RoosterMan) that this design looks perfectly at home on dual sport and adventure touring bikes.

I hate to hear this. I added their windshield to my 2020 RG. I already had a Memphis Shades 14” that did a pretty good job but all the hype made me curious. Many say they can’t get past the looks but I didn’t mind that at all. I found the wind protection to be about the same as the Memphis Shades. Never figured out if I had it dialed in correctly. Sad to hear they are gone.

Drug Test?
Watcha want to know, I am an expert on drugs, I could pass that test with ease making 100%

Here's one for the Stoners that have to pee in a cup,
3000 milligrams of vitamin B the night before, then three aspirin, the vitamin B turns your urine dark yellow, which is one of the things they look for, when you when you wake up you take three Excedrin, and go take your test you will pass every time I've used this method tried and true for years.....

Hey now. I have access to several different strains, thought you might enjoy testing them. Might have to enlist Christopher instead.

I think you're just messing with my head Mike!

So, "I drug test all my employees……" meant having the employees test different strains, NOT "Here piss in this cup"? ..... well that changes EVERYTHING!

Well this is very disappointing. I had emailed them just a couple weeks ago about the windshield for the new fairing. They led me to believe it would be in R&D in the spring. While some of you think that there's no need for the Madstad, you're obviously not 6'6" sitting tall in the saddle. This is a huge letdown. The 15" Klockwerks isn't cutting it for me.

I gave it to the dude I traded bikes with. But lemme dig around up in the attic because I’m pretty sure I have at least one, maybe 2, Madstad shields that I’ll give you. Hell I think one of them you gave me….

This sucks. They had a great product. Hopefully someone buys the company. I tried probably 5 different shields on my 2022 RGL and Madstad was the only one that worked great. The others were just ok. I ran their shield on angling I used to own and it was also great.
