I've had these guys for 5 years and it looks like their rates are going up a little.
$628 for the year, but it includes 1000 for accessories and complete passenger
insurance. I noticed a lot of motorcycle insurance does not cover passengers, or only covers them for 1,000 in medical.

I think I'll stick with these guys :D:D:D

I've got State Farm and have had them for more years than I can remember. I have everything, house, car and bike insured with them. When I totaled my '01 a couple of years ago, I had no problem with the claim. they paid for all the extras I had on the bike. All I had to do is have proof of purchase for the add-ons. If I remember right, my bill is around $600 a year for the bike and Bushtec trailer.

I had Foremost through Harley-Davidson at first, then when I moved to South Carolina from Virginia the rates went nuts. Bought a home and now have all of my insurance with Farm Bureau and they got me with Foremost again @ $468 a year. Not great but better then most others considering we don't have a helmet law and that we ride surrounded by lost tourist 6 months a year......

Dairyland here as well. I went from an'07 Heritage to the FLTRX and my rates went down. Go figure.
Of course it went down, you went to a geezer glide! Don't tell anyone from the insurance industry how well these things handle. And that some of our members are having to replace worn out floorboards. Please don't tell them and hope they don't read this forum. :)

Foremost

Last Aug. I had a bad fall when a deer hit me. I was paying around $650.00
They covered bike at cost, covered everything you could think of, replaced leathers, helmet, gloves and even my eye glasses at 250.00. I had 100,000
300,000 per accident covers rider passenger and anyone riding bike with Lic. Personal property damage, and uninsured/under insured. and medical at 1000.00
This year due to new bike and I raised medical to $10,000 (due to heli rides cost of 26,000) and 300,000/300,000 and it also has 6000 for extras. cost is now 825 but trust me if ya ever go down it's worth every cent ya shell out. I've looked at most and they don't cover everything. these guys do. Pay them now or really pay out later.:eek:

I have State Farm currently b/c everything else is through them but the rates are high ($730 I think and that's basic coverage for South Carolina). I was quoted $465 if I pay for a whole year upfront by Safeco. I asked my SF agent and he said they are a decent company. Again, basic coverage...

Just got my renewal notice from Markel Insurance and it has actually gone down.
My new Rate is 478.00 and that includes 3,000 for chrome.

I've got a 500.00 deductable.

Guess I'll have to increase the chrome add on a little :)

I jave used Markel for about 8 years with nobody else coming close to their rates. When I got rear ended at a stoplight by somebody with Safe Auto <spit> insurance - Safe Auto moved very slowly and Markel offered some good advice to get them in gear and offered to handle it for me if I couldn't get crappy Safe Auto to pay up. Mentioning the state insurance commissioner finally got Safe Auto to get my check sent out.

I think the reason rates seem to be going up so much is that so many people are out crashing bikes. Motorcycle licensing needs to be much more strict with real riding tests. Just because you can buy an expensive bike doesn't mean you can get through a curve and many people seem to think that a huge heavy Harley makes a great first bike.

Five years ago I was using Markel when I dumped the Valkyrie and put myself in the hospital for 3 1/2 weeks. Their claims agent was on top of things from the day they were called. Very impressed with their service. Now everything I own is covered by State Farm and I've been pleased with the premium. It will be interesting to see how responsive State Farm will be if I go down again and I really hope that doesn't happen again.

I had Markel for 7 years and only had one issue with them. My 08 Buell Ulysses XB12XT (an adventure touring bike) was classified as a naked sport bike so they wanted twice the money to insure it. So after I was done with the ride that I bought it for which was to ride the AlCan to Arctic Circle and back, I put it in storage.

Checked with Geico this year and they properly rated it and so I switched all eight bikes to them. Poor Markel they have lost big time $ from me.:D

A naked sport bike is a 22 rating and touring/cruising is 19.
