I planning a ride to South Padre from Lexington for this spring. Mainly secondary highways, may take the Natchez Trace for part of the trip. Will probably bounce around on the way home and catch Austin, some hill country, and whatever else justifies a stop. Any suggestions for good roads, routes, eateries, or other things worth seeing would be appreciated. I know it's 4 months away, but it beats staring out the window at the crappy weather.

Bandera is a good stop. Stayed at a small converted home and there were deer in the pack yard. !!th sttreet bar is a good stop for a cold beer. Easy ride from there to do the twisted sister and the O.S.T. Restaurant is a good placer for breakfast with pancakes as big as your head. That close to San Antonio, the Alamo is good place to visit.

Hope this helps.
