Has anyone done the DIY air ride system with the corvette shocks. I am seeing a lot of other forums talking about this and getting it done for around $250. Any input from anyone.

Deadstroke:

I just had some 1/4" by 1" flat SS left over from another project, I cut 4 pcs. about 2" long, drilled two 1/4" holes at each corner, attached one side to the pipe holder flange and the other to the muffler. This way the muffler moves out enough to clear the shock bolt, so far I haven't had any problems with the exhaust piping at all and the bolt is not hitting the pipe.
I just came from a 2000 miles trip, the wife, luggage and me and the system works great, I always bleed for my wife to get on and off and parking (I'm short). This is the best mod I have ever done.

Here's the link to some pics:

If you have any more questions let me know

I also just did this mod, and put just under 2000 miles on last week, on a trip from Ohio to South Carolina, we rode two up, both bags, and tour-pak fully packed, after playing around with pressure, 150 psi was about the best for that trip, it was like gliding on a pillow of air, real nice ride. with just me on, and the bike loaded I run around 115 psi.

Quick question, I saw somwhere else where someone used a grinder and trimmed the lower mount and used a shorter bolt to stop it from hitting. It was from when the home built system just got started. Has anyone else done this? If so what did you trim the steel bushing on the eye?

Ordered most everything I need except the switch, thinking about going with the Double rocker for that. One question about the shocks though. I ordered the Gabriel's and when they arrived there was a bit of oil leaked out of one of them. Will this be an issue or do I press forward? Was enough o to make the shock slick to the touch and leave a 2x3 spot on the box it came in. Thank in advance.

just put 700 miles on mine, riding the trail of tears, riding in the rain blew my fuse to the switch, didnt know till we got to waterloo to get gas, went to lower and no go, luckily it was aired up. so when I got home I put the tee valve that came with the shocks under the seat inline just before the tee going to shocks so now all I have to do if my pump quits is pull off my seat. also when I pulled the fairing off to see what the problem was I checked my pump it didnt work when I hot wired it, but it was because the ground wasnt grounding, I had it grounded to the bolt that the fairing extension is attached, so I re-ran the ground to the radio, only place I cound find a ground.

i also noticed my upper bushings are messing up, used the stock bushing with the metal sleeve pressed out the bottom was the correct size, I used the Gabriels, do I need to replace all 4 bushings our just the uppers with the Energy bushings?

Yes you need to replace all bushings upper and lower.

OK I have all my items in my wish list on Amazon. I have a couple of questions. I put the 1/8th Air line fittings , I got the plastic Tee and Y fitting. I also got a 1/8NPTX 1/8th airline straight brass fitting for the air pump out to the Tee. I need to pick out my solenoid and a needle valve to control the down to where it is not so fast. Would a brass one be better for the solenoid? If anyone bought one from amazon what one did you get? It would be nice if I could find one with an adjustable flow outlet.
