Has anyone done the DIY air ride system with the corvette shocks. I am seeing a lot of other forums talking about this and getting it done for around $250. Any input from anyone.

When I test fit these maybe a couple months ago, I noticed that my detachable sissy bar backrest would not fit onto the shock portion. what are you guys using as spacers to get it to work easily?

Oh, I have replaced with the energy bushings.

also, I have the Viair air pump that has that massive air filter. anyone running without it or found something smaller to minimize it's footprint. I'm installing in the fairing btw.

Thanks. Perfect. I'll get those tonight and get ready for the weekend. Gonna be a long working weekend.

On top of adding this air ride, I'm also replacing outer fairing (just good timing), air cleaner, fuel programmer, fluid change and a damn good wash.

Its gonna kill me if I can't finish on Saturday because Sunday here is supposed to be freaking nice.

Thanks for the info.

finished the air ride mod about 4 hours ago. It wasn't that hard just tedious. pressure is set to 60 unladen & 80 laden.

Used the CVO trunk switch with no relay.

Here are a few picture of key parts and where I put them.

Switch

Mounted pump near stereo.

I drilled two holes

For those with ABS moutned solenoid to it. HD 3M tape and a zip tie. not going anywhere

and I got a black face gauge on purpose and I call it "The Evil Eye"

This thread was invaluable so I just want to add a little bit more. Yeah I know, my gauge bezel is fading. Need to paint it!

Hey Q, when I was checking out of amazon they did have the white faced gauge but for some reason I think liked the black better to gauge my air. not exactly sure why but I dig the contrast.

it looks likes this mod has taken on some good amount of trial and error

I still don't know where I would be able to mount a pump, but I am giving this mod some thought, would rather just copy some elses layout who has had some good success with it

I have a fairing loaded up with 4 speakers and 2 amps and ABS

so in parts, you need gabriel or monroe shocks, air pump, solinoid, T block, relay, switch, release valve and pressure gauge, and bushings

if you go to amazon, they already have all these parts bundled as a customer who bought this bought this...

I'm not sure it would even fit, and a mini tank would be nice

There's a ton of excellent info included in this great thread but I need a slimmed-down version and am having a hard time deciding what's best for us.

My wife has back problems and I'm only interested in better ride quality, maybe even extending shocks to Ultra length. Therefore, I think all I need to do is replace the stock shocks, do the most effective install, and continue to use my HD hand-pump for now.

Please offer opinions and help me create the best parts breakdown (probably using Monroes) plus an appropriate assembly approach (bushings/shims/washers, etc.).

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. BTW - part numbers, hardware sizes, etc. would be absolutely outstanding if they're appropriate and you happen to know them.

Reporting back here after a short ride around town <40 miles. Some info I already mentioned

My weight: 180

Laden PSI Solo: 80
Laden PSI 2-up: 100

Unladen: 60

Alone I feel a moderate difference in the ride being softer, but once my wife (100 lbs) and I are on it, I definitely feel it softer, which was one goal of mine for her.

I have stretched bags so it's critical for me to air up to appropiate height.

So far I like it a lot and dumping the air is always fun around other riders.

Wanted to add these two pics.

After joing this forum and reading until my head hurts I have ordered a kit which includes Bilstein shocks, This may or may not be the best set up but I am a bit limited with suppliers that do international shipping.

I am not 100% sure what switch arrangements come with the kit. Perhaps a on/off/on switch for up and down.
A few ??? if I may.

Is it best to go with a main switch to pump up ( on/off) and a momentary switch for the dump?
I also read of guys using a CVO switch, is it part number 71764- 07 switch assembley power locks? and is this the switch used for on/off of the pump?
Air pressure gauge is just a Tee off the main fill line to the shocks correct?

any assistance is appreciated
regards
Max

You dont actually need two switches. You can buy that HD switch that theyre talkin about which a 3 position momentary switch. Momentary on ,off, monentary on. I got a small aftermarket 3 way momentary toggle im going to use when i do this mod over the winter. Still got a few weeks of riding
