Has anyone done the DIY air ride system with the corvette shocks. I am seeing a lot of other forums talking about this and getting it done for around $250. Any input from anyone.

I also have seen a better ride quality with this mod.. It is much easier to find your sweet spot.. than my previous shocks.(Progressive 440's) Setting the preload sux. With this mod, just a push of the button. In addition, I find that when aired up all the way, the slow speed maneuvering is much better,,, say when you're making a tight turn in the parking lot. The bike doesn't tend to fall into the turn as much. One of the best mods I've done on the bike.

SO, after sitting on this decision for a while I have decided to give this a shot... that being said, I'd like to install a pressure gauge and I found this one on Vtwin Goodies: http://vtwingoodies.com/hdf/pages/96fl_dashgauge_am.html. Anyone have any experience with it? looks like the install would be cake also.

Yo Rufus, Q, Paul and anyone else that wants to chime in......I like this mod, lots of great info in this thread, so I'm planning to make it happen on my Sedona Orange in a couple of weeks. I'm looking for advice from those that have already Blazed the Trail and know it best. I plan to use the Gabriel shocks, anyone have a reason not to use Gabriels? Knowing what you know since installing your air ride mod, what would you do different than your original install? 1/4" air line vs 1/8" air lines.....what do you think? Given the choice to do and make this the best install ever, what would be your 1st choice for any of the parts? What parts would you stay away from? What did you like best about your install? What would you definitely not do again? What do you think about the remote system operation........useful, cool or not so useful and cool? Oh, and Q, does it have to be YELLOW to be Kewl? Rufus and I think Sedona Orange is Kewl too. lol.
I'm making my buy list tonight, plan to purchase via Amazon and/or Ebay.....Grainger maybe for the solenoid and fittings. Looking forward to all of your posts! feel free to PM me here or email too.....rpistokcha@yahoo.com.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Hey Rod, sorry I'm kind of late on replying, but my list is pretty much like Q's. I purchased all the parts needed before hand and made sure I had everything before I started. I probably went thru the installation a hundred times in my head and even drew it out on paper. Everything went on without a hitch.

I posted some pics a few pages back on how I installed the air compressor and the solenoid.

Perfect thanks. Thats what i was wondering. I installed the shocks and located a spot to mount the compressor. im going to mount it upside down under the right side cover. Now im just waiting on the air fittings. Still need to figure out where im gonna put the switch though.

I kinda wanted to keep air hose and wires as short as possible. Im not going to run a gauge but i may end up going with the CVO switch if i cant come up with anything. I wound up hooking up one shock directly to the compressor to see what the compressor was capable of. Im very impressed by the compressors quiet operation. Im not in too much of a rush as the riding season is for the most part over with the freezing temps that arrived. I am however looking forward to the end result though

Hit up arnott they will sell you just a switch and a little backing plate. They have the little gauges too but you can't see them on the side. I don't use a gauge I go by feel also. Really any rocker switch would work anyway just make sure you run a relay so you don't burn up the switch.

Well i finally got mine installed today. I wound up mounting the compressor under the right side cover and the solenoid right behind it to keep everything as close as possible. thats the test fit but it worked out perfectly so it stayed there. I used two large stainless hose clamps to secure it. I didnt have much time after i finished the job to check for leaks cuz i needed to go to work. I was however brave enough to take it to work though. Once i get it dialed in i think i will really like this set up. I do have to locate a small air leak too cuz it will drop after about an hour or so of sitting. Ill hopefully get to that sometime this week
