Has anyone done the DIY air ride system with the corvette shocks. I am seeing a lot of other forums talking about this and getting it done for around $250. Any input from anyone.

Guys, this is an awesome thread and i can not wait to get started on this my self, going to be piecing it together over some time but i plan on putting pics up when i do.

but i have a few questions that the yall maybe able to help with.

1) i do not have a vice to press the new bushings into the monroes, would i be able to take them to the local parts store or suspension shop and have them pressed in?

2) I have noticed that a lot of yall are running the sherader valve as a back up, are yall using the one that came from the MoCo or are you using an aftermarket? and do you think that you could use the original?

3) Some one posted on here a crude schematic of the wiring and layout. On that they had the switch wired in before the fuse, shouldnt the fuse be before the switch?

thanks for all the help.

1. you shouldn't need a vice to press in bushing. That can be done when you are bolting the shocks back up and applying pressure when tightening bolt.

2. Can't help. didn't run schrader backup valve

3. I have fuse before switch.

Paul's road glide is right. Fuse protects everything down stream of it so put it before the switch. I had to press in my bushings but it wasn't hard. I got a large bolt with nut and some real big washers and made my own press. I think back in this thread I went over the sizes used or someone else did. I'm about to do my buddy's street glide and I can snap some pics if it will help ya out.

^^ Looks good. My Gabriel's just arrived yesterday along with one set of the suspension bushings. I ordered everything at once from Amazon and it is slowly arriving in pieces, which is ok because it is 5 degrees out today and I won't be doing anything in the garage until at least Wed of next week when it's finally supposed to get above 30*! brrrrr

Plus one..

Don't take it to personal RR..

Nothin personal here. Riding, detailing and admiring my ride is the extent of my involvement. I get plenty of pride and satisfaction from that. ;)

End of the day, either your shit is clean or it isn't. Whether you built it yourself or paid to have it done is irrelevant.

Just ordered all the parts yesterday, just have a quick question on how the dump valve works and where to mount a t for the pressure gauge. Can I put a t in before the dump valve for the gauge, or does it HAVE to be after the valve. Does the valve lock the air in on one side, or is the whole line from the compressor to the shocks the same pressure?
Im mounting my compressor in the fairing, and I wanna t off the compressor line straight to the gauge in the fairing.. will this work??

You are going to need a T-connector that goes into the Solenoid. So, basically in your diagram replace the solenoid with a t-connector and draw a hose to it and that will release the air once you hit that switch.

Just had a thought...unless of course that solenoid is a three way solenoid then you are correct. If not then proceed with the instruction above.

It's the right valve, just add that T-connector and run a hose to the solenoid.

This sucks. I ordered the Gabriels and everything works nicely but one of the shocks leaks at the top where the shaft is. I ordered them from Amazon but ill prolly get this next set from Oreillys then warranty them.

Bluchevy,
Someone else on here along time ago bought the shocks and one leaked. He bit the bullet and ordered new ones. He probably still has the one good one that you could probably get. It's a long shot but it might be worth starting a new thread to see if anyone speaks up. Just a thought. You will love this mod so much when you are done this will be just an afterthought.
Good luck,

I actually got on amazon and they will replace them. They are sending me two new ones and a shipping label to ship the old ones back within 30 days. I am impressed.
