Has anyone done the DIY air ride system with the corvette shocks. I am seeing a lot of other forums talking about this and getting it done for around $250. Any input from anyone.

Finally got all mine installed and I love it over stock, Going to try some limiting straps myself but all in all a good cheap air ride. One thing I did pickup was this
Rockstar 3/8" slow down dump control SMC air suspension
That little baby will give you full control of the drop so you can hone it in.

I was browsing custombaggersforum, choppedbaggers, etc reading up. Then I was browsing arnotts website and they have an install video of compressor placed in front of the battery box on ABS models. This kit uses a Gast compressor (I'm guessing the 30R) due to its physical size.
Has anyone used this compressor in this location?

I noticed the Gast 30R is similar in size to the Viair 98C except the 98C is 2x the width at 3.5"

Got the shocks installed friday night . Went on a 200 mile ride 2up. What a difference the shocks made. Rode smoother took the bumps better all around big improvement over the stock shocks. Yesterday had time to get the compresor mounted and hooked up. What a pain in the ass. The batt that is in it hits the bottom of the seat. So no moving the ecm there. I took the ecm holder off pushed the ecm against the batt tray, moved the fuse block to the open area under the gas tank. My son wanted to make the bracket to hold the compressor. So some angle metal and spacers got that mounted. Put dump valve next to the compressor, wired it up and bam adjustable air ride. Aired it up over night and its sitting on the ground. Found the fitting into the compressor leaking. Tightened that up no leaks and ready to rock. Sorry for the long post.

I weight 185 and my wife 100

Solo - Laden is 80psi & unladen is about 65psi.

Two up - Laden is 105psi & unladen is about 85psi.

I mention the unladen so if you are inflating and no one is on it then you have a rough idea what its need to be once you do sit on it. Typically I inflate while sitting and then just stand up and let it settle to make sure it is where I want it. Sometimes I inflate or deflate on the fly too. Of course that is only to fine tune up or down.

Are you all running the Viair 2" psi gauge? I didn't install mine because it seemed like a poor piece of equipment. The light socket fell inside the housing too but didn't sit right in its location. I've just been going by feel. Gotta say its a cool DIY and looks much hard to assemble than actually is. Thanks to all the forerunners for the prior info.

I'm about to order all my parts for this project as I found out that one of my original air shocks is leaking oil. I see where guys are using the CVO latch switch, but my question is. Can you use the speaker switch to accomplish the same, it is a three way switch? Also it looks like I can use any 2 way 12 volt remote for the coolness factor.

What say you experienced installers?

Yes a lot of CVO switches were used but really any 3 way(on/off/on) momentary switch will work. Its just a matter of what you want to use. Isnt the speaker switch just on/off? You could use a 2 way switch i guess if you want to have two switches, 1 for the compressor and another for the dump solenoid

Well as i posted a few pages back i had an air leak caused by me apparently over tightening the fitting i installed into the solenoid which wound up cracking the plastic solenoid. Any way i ordered a new metal solenoid which came in so i installed it yesterday. I aired up the shocks and sprayed soapy water on every line connection to check for anymore leaks. There wasnt. Left it aired up overnight to make sure there wasnt any leaks and much to my excitement it was still standing tall. When i get some extra time ill button everything up finally. Now i just have to wait til all the crap is gone from the roads so i can give it nice test ride. Oh yeah! Who was the guy that was making the limiting cables? I may be looking into those if youre still making them:D

I think this thread needs to be stickied. Condense it a little and put up up couple different setup options the a guy could use as a reference with part numbers and this would make a awesome sticky. I was up tell 2:30am reading all 70 pages last night and when my alarm went off at 5 I felt like death. But is was so so worth it. I'll be putting this on in the next couple weeks. Along with new bars. Mono tubes. 21 inch wheel and stereo. Going to be a long weekend

JJSW1283 was the member who was making up some limiting straps.

I also agree that this thread should be stickied... kinda supprised it hasn't been yet.
If you REALLY want to put some time reading into it, there are threads on both hdforums & choppedbaggers on the subject... both of them are 80-some pages long! :D

Okay, attacking the shocks today.... As far as energy suspension bushings, what are ya'll doing for this? Do you have a part number or a specific set of bushings? Thanks in advance.
