I was just wondering if anyone made limiting straps to limit the travel. How hard were these to make?

Not hard to make. Materials cost a few bucks. A swagging tool can be had for about 30 if you dont have one.

I was going to make a set of these, but decided against it. Anyway, I checked with my local Ace Hardware, they have the cable and the clamps and said they'd have no problem making up whatever length I wanted.

Out of curiosity, why did you decide against the cable? Is there a better method or just decided no limiter?

Once I got it all set up I realized i didn't need them. I'm running megaphone style mufflers (Jackpot Pro Touring 4.5") and they're narrow enough at that point to where they just barely hit the axle nut when fully aired up.

The straps are not needed. Me being 5'6". I want to limit travel to 12" plus it will allow me to firm up my ride depending on weight needs (1up, 2up, fully loaded) without going over 12" shock length.

I'd say the limiters give you a control point so as not to strain the drive belt and keep suspension geometry more consistent with factory specs when aired up which could change handling characteristics

Can't remember how far back it was but it's pretty straight forward get some 1/8" plastic coated cable at hardware store with 4 swedging eyelet kits and borrow or buy cable crimps.

Air the bike up to a level your comfortable with while in the saddle and measure the distance between shock bolts center to center. That's the length you want your cables. Strip back the plastic coating on the end of the cable enough to complete the eyelet and crimp wedge this is important because you get max strength out of the eye.
Once first eye is complete then measure and mark you center to center and cut plus 4" again strip casing from cable assemble the eye and double check measurement adjust and crimp

Buy 4 1/2 flat washers and 4 bolts 1/4 inch longer than the ones you have now and assemble with washer on both sides of the cable and tighten

I've been thinking of another idea for limiters, when I was into off road racing in my younger years I has a set of limiting straps made out of nylon webbing used for rock climbing , my Suzuki quadzilla had shock issues

Thanks for the details on how to make and then thanks for the link posted above. I did an ebay search and found some 12" limiting straps.

Would those limiting straps go in the same spot as the wire ones guys are using? On the inside of the shock?

Yep or the outside ... The plus with a strap is it has a little give to it 3 to 5% which means softer rebound if it limits out in a hard bump plus it's lighter and less likely to scratch or rub stuff

Ok quick question. Why do you have to have the electric dump valve after the speed valve. Can you just plug the third line coming out of the speed valve and dump the air that way.
