Has anyone done the DIY air ride system with the corvette shocks. I am seeing a lot of other forums talking about this and getting it done for around $250. Any input from anyone.

Swapped out bushings and put the shocks on this morning for the hell of it. Still waiting on dump solenoid and fittings, and cvo switch before I can do it all. Thought I was gonna use the stock air line, but it's some kind of squishy rubber crap, wouldn't fit through the shock fitting caps. Anyway, used the line and valve from the shock kit to finish. Aired up, the axle nut hits the muffler and has about 60 lbs pressure without me sitting on it.

I ended up using line from the kit and yanking the stock. I'll be using 1/8 throughout the hole system, plus I've got a 25ft roll of airline coming. I went ahead and mounted the compressor behind the saddlebag on the rail.

Here's a pic of that. I have 2 clamps on now after a quick run to hardware store. Even with just the one clamp, it was stout and wasn't budging.

Thanks! I'm tryin to keep it all together close. I'm gonna tee off the line probably under the seat and go straight to a gauge in the fairing. Other than that, just a few wires that go to the switch will be going under the tank.

Thats where ive been thinking about mounting my compressor, i like the idea of keeping everything in close proximity and not all over the bike. I thought about the weather, but i have a friend with train horns on his f-250 that are mounted under the bed. he's had them there for three years as a daily driver and said he's not had any problems with the compressor ( and i know his 4x4 goes through alot more mud and moisture than my bike ever will)

What pressure are you guys riding at? I've just got the shocks on and holding air until the rest of my stuff comes. It rides kinda rough

ups delivered my shocks today, thought I ordered a gauge but guess I didnt, gonna use the viair 90088 gauge. I need fittings, I was thinking of using 1/4 from pump to the y to the shocks and stepping down to 1/8, having the dump valve in the 1/4 line, thinking that would let the air out quicker, what you think?
also found a handlebar mount switch from arnnot, but you can get it cheaper from custom dynamics.

heavy weight

You guys think this would support two heavy weights without bottoming out? I only ask because I am looking for a good set up without bottoming out. Any ideas? 500+ with tour pack and bags loaded...

I know a guy 6'8" almost 400lbs himself running these on a 13 CVO with tour pack and his wife with no issues so I would say no problems for you. Remember these were originally for car and im sure they built them with at least the weight you have in mind

Thanks for the input putting together a list to order everything now. Just wondering about the solenoid and dump valve, anyone have a part# from amazon for that? Also will I be needing any extra line or fittings? Or do the shocks come with everything I need to do the install? Forgot to say, I'll be running the Black viair gauge in place of the temp gauge is there a different soleniod for that? or do I just run a T connection from the shocks to the gauge?

OH, I pmed the air ride 101 guy on the CB forum. He said that while sitting on the bike and airing up it should get to 60 plenty before hitting the axle nut. I was doing it not sitting on it, on the kickstand with just the shocks holding air, no compressor hooked up yet. So guess I'll have to see after I get the rest of the system on. Hopefully I dont have to take a hammer to the dragula.

Here's what I came up with for limiting straps. Made two of them.

Did that work, and did you have to use longer bolts? I too have a hard time wanting to pound a dent into my pipes for clearance. I looked at the straps but they don't offer them in a 13. The Monroe's are 14" fully extended. Said you would need to order one inch shorter than your shock and they don't have a 13". Guess I'll be making some cable stops...

okay, just ordered everything for the install.....I think. Here is a list.

energy suspension bushings X2, MA785 shocks, reading designs clutch side on/off/on switch, Viair 90085 160 PSI 1.5" Single Needle Air Gauge, VIAIR 98 Viair 98C 12 Volt Air Compressor Kit w/Omega Bracket, SMC 1/4 in Solenoid Valve. Do I need any extra push to connect fittings or air line, wiring ect...? If I've forgotten anything please let me know I should have everything by Friday and doing the install next weekend...

im using a momentary switch instead of on/off/on, arnott makes one that bolts to the lower bolt hole of the clutch bracket and you can get it cheaper from custom dynamatics #21-2610-B. I had to use this one because i have heated grips and the switch is on that side.
